So my son brought over his older style PS3 which has been working perfect. We are now about to ship it out to him now that he is settled in so I went and picked one up. It is the newer model and all seemed fine until I got to the wireless setup. Basically after I turn it on and sign in it locks up my wireless access point. Put the older system back on and all is fine. Go back to the new one and it locks it up. I have to pull the power from the WAP and fire it back up again. WTF!? ![]() |

I had the exact same thing. Do you happen to have a linksys router? I would power on the PS3 and it would shut the entire house wireless down.
The way you fix it is by going into the router settings at 192.168.1.1 and makeing sure DHCP is set to enable and that UpnP is off (under administration) I did that and she worked right away after I rebooted the router and modem. |

Dlink setup. Still fighting w/ it. Keep ya posted. |

Quoted: when DHCP is disabled, the router can't assign IP addresses for your laptop and the PS3. So one will interfere with the other. It should be enabled through the router settings. Are you running WPA security? Sometimes PS3 doesn't like WEP... Yes I have my wireless WEP protected. So.... Why is the older PS3 ok? If the new PS3 is ok w/o the notebook on and ALL the other devices connecting, is it functioning properly? Should I go swap it for another to see if it does the same? Going to check the DHCP stuff now. |
