That's alright, just save up for another AR, perhaps a less expensive Bushmaster M4 or a Rock River Arms.  They are also great rifles that cost about $300-$400 less than a comparable Colt.  A nice Remington 870 is a cheap ($350 or so for a good police model) home defense weapon you might want to condsider as well.

Personally, I just don't like AK's.  But, whatever makes you happy.

what's the first thing you all usually jump to when it comes to accessorizing an ar15? i've been looking at pictures of optics and lights on this website and simply don't know where to start.

Peruse the picture threads for hours to get an idea on what people accessorize with. Alot of add-on's, accessories, grips/stocks and sights/scopes are personnal preference. EOTech and Aimpoint sights are the most prevolent sights available. Several good flashlights available also. I think Pentagon lights are an excellant value. Alot of stuff is good, and alot of stuff is crap. My AR has gone through more then one transformation to finally get it where I'm very content with it. I learned alot from this forum by looking at alot of pictures, reading alot of posts, and asking questions. Personally, regardless if you keep your AR bone stock or not, the most important thing you can do is only use high quality mags in your Rifle. The Dealers here on this Forum (for the most part) cannot be beat for best prices and outstanding service. Good luck!

To make it short, it depends entirely on what you plan to use the rifle for.

i may stop with a Crane stock...

Before you go out and buy a bunch of stuff to hang on your rifle, get some training, take a good basic course.  Firing 1,000 rounds over a three day period will give you a really good idea of what YOU need to do to better suit the rifle to YOUR needs.  Having the basics down with a stock rifle and iron sights is always a good thing.

By theway,  welcome aboard!!

i think after an AR15, an AK is another fun choice, it's cheap to shoot and you can throw it down your driveway and run it over with your car

Learn your rifle as it sits. Learn your irons, become proficient with it. Then start hanging all the tacticool crap you want on it. Maybe one day it'll look like this

They are cheap
