I log into ARFCOM and suddenly the forums appear different.....the buttons have changed.....Lock? Move? Edit? Trash? What sorcery is this??? Suddenly the wind begins to swirl around me....thunder claps in the sky....I begin to levitate off of the ground....The realization hits: I have ascended. In an instant I am overwhelmed with the sensation of power surging through my body as a bright blue aura surrounds me...individual bolts of it begin to leap from me to the surroundings, setting fires and charring anything in their path. [Maniacal laughter] "THE POWER!!! YESSSS!!!! THE UNDENIABLE POWER!!!!" [/maniacal laughter] I descend to Earth again...master of all I survey. There can be only ONE! |

I've done it like 5 times already. I'm used to pressing the last button to get "quote", but now it's "Edit". It will take some getting used to. |
Oh. So that's how it happens. I always thought it was when some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at you.

For the record, I've never "bashed" ARFCOM. I've taken issue with some specific things mentioned here and taken some things mentioned here to use to spawn discussion on other boards, but I've never bashed the site in general or everyone on it. I've even stuck up for ARFCOM on a number of occasions on other boards in answer to questions about why I bother with this site at all. The answer is that every now and then I get to help someone here with what limited knowledge I possess and point them to good information or training. I've been privileged to help a number of folks in some small way, and I've had the pleasure of striking up a rapport with a number of fine people along the way, including folks like O_P, Bamma, RustedAce, Gargoyle, Quien, and many many many others I don't have time to name. There's more to like about ARFCOM, in my opinion, than to dislike...else I wouldn't be here. ...and I've always been up front about my opinions, which is why I don't hide behind different names on different boards. |

on the other forum I visit I've actually edited someone else's post with my answer instead of quoting the message... doh! congrats for the new mod.
