Hello all.

I'm going to build a new gaming computer.  I want to be play new and future games at the max settings.  The video card I'm buying is a 8800GTS.  I just need some opinions on a good CPU/Motherboard combo.  I'll also will have about 4gig of ram.

Thanks for the help.

Just buy a console.  I spent years from '99 on chasing perfection for gaming puters and pefection Ive never found.  Consoles are just easier.

I just put an eVGA  8800GTS in my pc last week. Nothing like being able to game with all of the eye candy at max or near max levels while still having awesome framerates.

You will be very happy with that card.

Edit:

My recommendations for a cpu & mobo would be these.

Intel c2d e6600

eVGA 680i mobo

I'm with Toaster

I'm running a Core 2 Duo E6600 and the EVGA 680i with 2x 7800gtx's and 4gig of ram.

I'm very pleased.

Dang man, you must not of searched much. My machine is built for many things and handles any game I throw at it. I tried consoles many years back, and gave up on them. The PC can just do so much more as compared to a console.

Sweet set up, Intel is the way to go right now, but you might want to check out when AMD has their quad core is coming out.  The more gigs of ram you have doesnt mean better performance.  If I had the link I would give it to you.

Correct. I'm running Win XP x64 and do other things with this PC. Actually some issues I had with BF2 went away with the addition of the 2 extra gigs.

Shoot if I could afford it I'd have 16gigs in this PC and run a RAM disk.
