LOL.
Um...everything. They generally don't run processors even half as fast as normal laptops. Also, high end hardware or large RAM abilities aren't usually available. Yes you can buy a $300 netbook that will get you buy for most uses, but it won't be something that will run programs that require serious resources, like most Adobe products. For internet, DVD, and word processing they can be fine. Personally, I don't see much of a use for them, I prefer to spend extra and get a laptop that has the ability to last 3 years rather than buy something that will be obsolete in a year. |

I'm using my year old net book right now and I run many Adobe products, and games no problem.
right tool for the right product. if you need 8 gig of ram and a dvd burner don't do it. but if you are worried about video cards most portables will not make you happy. |
| If you need something really light and portable a netbook is nice otherwise get a notebook. If you look around you can get a low end notebook for around $350 that has a lot more processor power, memory, and hd capacity and a larger display that is easier to see. |

Netbooks are small, light, cheap and (as a general rule) have better battery life than a cheap laptop. They are slower, most max out around 2gb of ram, and have an oddball screen resolution that can be an issue with some software, and no optical drive.
My wife likes hers, but she uses it for email/web surfing/pictures/music. I put openoffice on it and it seems to run it pretty well. It's nice for travelling, but othewise I would rather have a 13" laptop. |
