Just received some Amazon.com gift cards and looking for a new SAE & Metric socket set 3/8" drive.

Anybody heard of these GearWrenchâ„¢ branded products.  They look fairly good.  Any other recommendations?  Obviously, needs to be available form Amazon.

Don't have them but I use the Q&A in the comments section extensively before I make the buy on Amazon.

Are you looking for impact sockets? Taiwan gearwrench is g2g.

I have some proto, mac, and snap on stuff. Also have some craftsman, home depot, and lowe's tools.

In your situation, I would use the Amazon gift cards on something else and purchase the socket sets at Lowe's.

Used mine for decades as an aircraft technician. If the quality has not dropped off, they are gtg.

GearWrench socket sets and wrench sets in my tool box have served me well for many years as a DIY guy.

I've used gear wrench and they have been good for me.  Granted I am only a DIYer.  Not sure how they would hold up to commercial, everyday use.

Good luck.

This.
I have gear wrench ratcheting wrenches and I like them but for impacts I like Pittsburgh Pros from Harbor Freight, $50 for both SAE and metric and goes quite a few sizes larger than what you get with the Gear wrench set

While I have never used Gearwrench sockets, If they're anything like their wrenches, they're GTG for DIY.

I got the Tekten branded 3/8 set it was like 40 bucks. For the money I am very happy with it.

I have the chrome 3/8" & 1/2" set of gearwrench in 12 point sockets. I use them for backup when I need a thinner socket for a job and have no issues
with the sockets. Only complaint I have is the 3/8 ratchet broke only after using a few months.

Gear Wrench is pretty good.  A few of the guys at work use them for aircraft maintenance.  Though for inexpensive sockets I'd go with the Harbor Freight ones and spend the Amazon gift cards another way.  But that's just me.

Thanks everybody.  I ordered the GearWrench SAE/Metric chrome 3/8" drive (not impact) kit.

They are BLACK. Drop one on the frame or on the motor and you will never find it. Guaranteed.
Wish the made them fluorescent orange... much easier to find.

Agreed.  Also, I hate my old set of Craftsman set because the socket size engraving is so small and think it sucks trying to pick a 10mm vs 11mm, etc.  Hopefully these GearWrench units are better (they state the engraving is easy to see.
