I have a Canon A510.  It's simple but functions and makes movies in AVI format.

Anyway, after many range trip the little shutter cover "eyelid" thingy refuses to open when the camera is turned on and the lens extends out from the unit.

Is there a way to clean out and dust that may have gotten in there?

For reference here is the cover thingy I talk of:

remove batteries and reinstall?
Firmware update?

This issue is not software/firmware related.  I believe there is dust or physical debris in the automatic cover thingy.

The reason I brought it up is because I had a Olympus with a similar problem. I did a reset and it worked but the problem returned. There was a firmware update that addressed the problem and it never did it again.
