I have a 1981 Gibson Flying V that is in the shop getting refinished
in flat black. I have all my black hardware found and black anodized pickguard.
Everything is black except the truss rod cover. I know I can get one cut for me, but I want
the Black arrowhead with silver Gibson logo truss rod cover from the Gibson Gothic V.
It would be the perfect finishing touch to my custom Gibson.
Gibson Service is no help with the parts restructure they are doing right now.
I have already spoken with or checked online with the folks here with no luck:

It's frustraiting that my "stealth" V is getting halted by a freaking truss rod cover.
If anyone has or can lead me to a Gibson Gothic Flying V truss rod cover, black w/ silver logo
it would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, I also tried on www.mimf.com.

Tried ebay? You can get a steering colum for a 88 F-150 there so a guitar part ought to be easy.

It's white with gold logo. I'm doing the whole guitar in a flat black, so no white.
I want the one they put out on the gothic series, black with silver logo.

I looked all over today as a personal project, but no dice.

I was able to find all kinds of custom truss rod covers, but no "Gothic Flying V" truss rod covers.

Get a machinist to make you one. It would be cheaper.

Yeah, I know. Already had it lined up, but wanted the silver Gibson logo on it.
The big custom pickguard places won't do any Gibson logos. I've got a local guy who can do the
truss cover but it will be blank. I wanted this to stay a Gibson part. It looks like I'll
have to deal with a blank until I come across one.
Thanks for looking kpel308!

I have a black truss rod cover for a Flying V. It does however have the vertical engraved type 'Gibson' with white paint in the letters. You could get one of those and redo the color in the lettering any shade you like.

Yes, I buy/sell ebay almost daily. No such luck unless I want the whole used guitar.
I'm not going to spend $600-$800 on a $10 truss rod cover.
The gothic line was a short run that was discontinued about 2 years ago, so it makes it tough.

Is it the large arrowhead like on the 1962 reissue or 1975-1982 V???
I'll do black with white letters! Got a pic?
I will IM you!

Another option is I have a friend who will make any logo I ask . The only problem is it will be a sticker type . We are working on a Fibson logo right now for a LP copy I have , and he already did a Fucker logo for another guy .

LOL! That's cool! I don't really want to go that route tho., thanks!
I think I will just use a blank and keep the search on. Maybe after Gibson completes its
parts revamp, I can get it from them.
