| I have 2 laptops I wish to upgrade the HDDs on. They are a Gateway mx8738 and mt6728. Both came with 160GD HDDs. I bought 500GB HDDs. I imaged both units and when I throw the image back onto the new HDDs & reboot, the PC just reboots continuously. The bios does see the HDDs. I could not find an answer (online) from Gateway as to HDD maximum size capacity restrictions in the bios. They did not come with Vista CDs (everything is preloaded) so I could not test a straight install from CD. Any suggestions? |

wow where to begin..
the gateway should allow you to create the recovery cd's with in windoz. create the cd/ dvd and try to see if it will install a fresh install of windoz on the new drives. if it does i would suggest some new drive cloning software. if it doesn't perhaps a bios update |
| I burned 2 Gateway recovery CDs, pathetic, they are not even bootable!?!?!?!?!? and they do not contain the OS, just files to repair the OS. I was hoping to use the "recovery" CD to just repair the imaged HDD, no go. but I did find the OS CDs from my boxes so it did come w/it. Will just install the OS from scratch. |
