Oregon Ballot Measure 114 is on the ballot this November that would require a background check, fingerprints, law enforcement approved training BEFORE you fill out a 4473. You would still need the federal background check. The measure will also include a 10 round capacity magazine limit. If it passes, firearms sales in Oregon will cease for the foreseeable future. There is no mechanism in place to provide law enforcement approved training, there is no provision to handle doing the background checks, fingerprints, and ID cards. The cost will be $65 for the card and it needs to be renewed every 5 years. Estimated cost to administer the program the first year is around $56 million. Keep in mind, this is BEFORE you can fill out a 4473. Every purchase still needs to go through the State Police and NICS. As for the magazine restrictions, you may keep your existing mags with above ten round capacity but can only be used on your own property, locked up when on the way to a range, and at the range. There is no provision to exclude CHL holders or off duty law enforcement. Here's a link to the effects of the measure at Stop114.com. There is a group of us being vocal on local forums, contacting political campaigns, printing out fliers for distribution at gun shops, gun shows, and anywhere else we can find an ear. I've been contacting local radio stations and their pro 2A programs so they can invite discussion and share information. Lars Larson has talked about it on his radio program. We're encouraging everyone to educate themselves about the measure and tell as many people as they can. Several of us have been working with Oregon Firearms Federation and have received some help with money for printing flyers but it's not nearly enough. The only way that I know of, for us to get more support from people outside Oregon, is to ask for people to donate to OFF-PAC and designate your donation to support the fight against measure 114. I've talked to the NRA headquarters and the one person that I was able to speak to says they consider this an "all hands on deck" effort and that someone would be calling me. That was Tuesday and I haven't heard back from them. Maybe they are doing something, but whatever it is, it's not reaching the boots on the ground. There are many of us spending our own money on flyers, gun show table fees, making copies, driving around to distribute flyers, going to local events to distribute flyers and talk to people, and walking neighborhoods. IF any of you have other ideas, please speak up. We're behind enemy lines and fighting a well funded enemy. I know this is GD and I posted it here to get maximum exposure. It's easy to vent your anger on the keyboard and it's well deserved in this case, but please don't do it on this thread. we're calling for help, not rhetoric at this point. |
| Listening to Lars Larson on this, they made Washingtons recent law seem like cookies and cream to what libs in Oregon are doing with this one... They basically make it impossible to buy a gun. You can own one, you just have to go through hell and "money" to get it. |

I've love to give $$ to Gun Owners of America & Firearms Policy Coalition who will fight for us but can't right now. The biggest problem, Oregon's reps hates guns. The people behind this bill are morons and think more laws will do anything. They ignore the defunding of police, removing gang units and the 2020 riots, 100+ days of riots etc. I don't see how they got the signatures. Oregon's senators don't understand 2A. I've got emails from both of them saying guns are for hunting and collecting... Without removing them, they will support this 100% and encourage their followers to vote for it. All of Oregon's politician are all tyrants. Unless this changes, Oregon is another CA and I will be forced to move asap! |

Btw, not all Oregon politicians are tyrants. We've got same damn good people on our side, we just happen to be outnumbered right now. Are you willing to make copies of a handout and distribute them? Are you willing to kick in a few bucks to help pay for copies and gun show fees? Are you willing to donate to OFF-PAC to offset costs for ads and radio time? Are you willing to contact me to donate time? I just spent a couple of hours at the Sublimity Harvest Festival and gained more allies and people to help spread the word. I've got a table at the ARPC Albany gun show the 24th and 25th and will be handing out flyers and soliciting support. Can you help man the table for a couple of hours? Could really use the help. |

There's an article in Ammoland Shooting Sports News that speaks of our fight to protect our rights. Many thanks to Dave Workman for writing the article and helping get the word out. |

As a native born Oregonian, and someone who via the joys of divorce from Amber Heard's emotional well being coach will be soon forced to move to CA to see my kids... the fact that CA will likely soon have no mag limits and no AW ban while OR and WA will have CA laws is mind bending. |

Article I, Section 27. Right to bear arms; mili- tary subordinate to civil power. The peo- ple shall have the right to bear arms for the defence [sic] of themselves, and the State, but the Military shall be kept in strict sub- ordination to the civil power[.] How does a blatantly unconstitutional ballot measure even make it to a vote? How are natural, God-given rights something that can be voted away by our fellow citizens and yet we are protected from the government from stripping us of those same rights?! Americans’ brains are broken. |
| The gun club (4 Corners in Salem) does a public sight in service every weekend in September. I will contact our secretary and let him know I’m gonna be there with a stack of these flyers. If we can hand them out to people when they sign in I think we can get about 100 flyers passed out. |
| So far everyone I ask about this only knows about the >10rd mag ban part of the bill. As soon as I start explaining the new requirements for purchase, to a person, every single one has been shocked. One asshole even admitted to signing the petition and he is a hunter (I know ducks and big game for sure). He claims they never mentioned the purchase restrictions while gathering signatures (which is true for the nuts I listened to peddling their crap at the farmer’s market). So the purchase restrictions are my angle of attack right now. |

That's not what the state or federal constitution is for. |

| Oregon Firearms Federation is ran by a guy that is so over the top, the organization and the fight against this law suffers for it. Oregon needs a new Firearm right lobby group that can do a better job working with the Legislators and uniting the other groups . Right now they are actively fighting against the Republican candidate for Governor, who is leading in the polls and many other Republican's on the ballot. There hasn't been a Republican governor in Oregon since 1987. Oregon Firearms Federation has even refused to endorse one of the most pro gun candidates I know of because he said he would be willing to "Talk" to the other side. Not that he would vote for anything they put up but just talk. That kind of approach is as insane as voting for a third party candidate for President which is just giving your vote to a Dem. |

I am pretty sure Oregon and WA are in the 9th Circuit. That ruling will be binding circuit wide. |
| The club I I belong had a good writeup in the last newsletter. Admin asked me to leave a stack of flyers in the main clubhouse. Might ask if you can do the same at your club. Even if they're a non-profit, they can still support political issues and this one is pretty frickin' big issue. |
|
Quoted: How do you think the voters in Oregon are going to vote? I believe we're about 50-50 at this point. If there's another big shooting, it'll be harder for us to keep support from moderates. That's why the fight is so important. I believe we have a pretty good chance but need to keep the pressure up, keep people informed, and really jump on the "get out the vote" band wagon, especially toward the end. We've also got a pretty hot three way race for governor, so there are more people paying attention this time around. |

There are other groups, but I don't think they have had the impact that OFF continues to have. You don't need to agree with all of his opinions to appreciate the good he's done. Kevin continues to work hard on this issue and is putting out a tremendous amount of energy to support shutting down 114. |

So the purchase restrictions are my angle of attack right now. They tried a similar thing here in WA few years back. It would have required training at a "LE approved training facility" to purchase a gun. People pointed out that there was no facility in the entire state that met the requirements and provided training to private citizens. Almost like it's, you know, intentional. "Fortunately" we only got the initiative which required an online safety course to buy a semi auto rifle. They conveniently forgot to put "other" firearms into the legalese, making stripped AR lower receivers exempt, leading the unintended result of everyone now just buying and building stripped AR receivers rather than something more tame like a 10-22 which is now classified as a "semi automatic assault weapon" - even my old 13 round tube fed Marlin 60 is now considered an assault weapon. |

OFF is not wrong when it comes to Christine Drazan. Christine Drazan could have stepped up and shown leadership but she went along with the Democrats in allowing them to run over the rural areas of this state. The other problem is any Republican who voted for HB3164 cannot to claim to be a law and order candidate. Christine Drazan is as pro-ANTIFA as Tina Kotek. Betsy Johnson has as good or better odds of being our next Governor and unlike Christine Drazan isn't some pandering RINO. Betsy Johnson is as pro-gun and anti-criminal as anyone, and more so than about half of the elected Republicans in office in Oregon. |

You cant tackle these issues while you ignore the legislators that are trying to hold the line. They are out numbered and out funded and he is only added to the gap when he is fighting the very republican's that could move the needle and balance of power in the State house. |
| I've sent an email to our gun club president asking if I can keep a stack of the flyers on the sign in table at the annual Sight In Service. Seems like a good time to contact people who own guns and hunt, but who aren't into guns enough to join a club or hang out on a chat board. |

I was at Gun Crafters (In South Salem) the other day and they gave me a copy of the bill. I took it to Copycats in West Salem today and bought 100 copies. I left a bunch of them at some of my favorite gun/pawn shops. I'm going to do the same every week 'till the election. BTW, I have about zero faith in Oregon voters. |

Thanks to Oregon Firearms Federation (OFF), I've now got quite a few more flyers printed out. I'm in SE Salem so let me know where we can meet. |

Quoted: How do you think the voters in Oregon are going to vote? LOL you think we vote? No we drop off our ballets in a drop box that gets trashed. And the Dems make up the votes needed to win but not look like its fixed. Been that way since they started mail in ballets years ago. Mark my words, it will pass with extra votes needed. |

We're getting more attention on the national stage. Ammoland News has an article by Dave Workman talking about our fight against Measure 114. The Oregon NRA-ILA grassroots organizer has stepped up and is providing more materials. I believe we're going to see more of this in other states and on a nationwide level. It'll take work from all of us to help the fight in all locations. We need everyone's support on this. Getting the word out is vital and so is voting. Can't stress this enough. Educate yourselves and others, spread the word and VOTE. Our opinions or efforts don't count if we don't vote. P.S. If anyone knows how to embed the article above, please feel free to do so. |

Quoted: Awesome. Thank you Quoted: Quoted: Working in Corvallis today and took a stack of the flyers to Tick-Licker Firearms in South town. They seemed to appreciate having them to hand out. I'll keep doing this 'till November. Awesome. Thank you |

Hey, I'm Dave, with the Powder River Sportsmen's Club in Baker City, OR. We just spent $5000 to buy lawn signs and banners. Our plan is to ship most of them to allies on the west side of the state. Free. See the signs at https://www.prsportsmen.com/114.html . Oregon political landscape: East side is sparsely populated, conservative. Northwest corner is densely populated, liberal, wags the dog. In a few days, we'll be shipping the OP a thousand dollars worth of signs. He's a boots on the ground guy. Making a real difference. We're glad to chip in. Oregon Firearms Federation is leading statewide opposition to M114. They started a new PAC: stop114.com . We put their PAC on our signs. If half the arfcom membership sent $5 to stop114.com, our odds of defeating M114 would increase dramatically. Anyone can complain. If you want to take over statewide leadership in protecting the RKBA, then do it already. Otherwise, get on board with people who are doing it, or be quiet. Leftists are very good at uniting liberals by appealing to their emotions. Moderates and Conservatives are typically independent thinkers, difficult to unite. If gunowners cannot put aside minor differences to unite in support of shared goals, we will continue to lose. We already made contacts in Klamath, Ashland, Roseburg, and Salem. We need contacts in Portland, Eugene, Corvallis, Grants Pass, Redmond, and Bend. If you can use your club or personal or business network to make good use of 50 signs, and if you will commit to getting them intelligently placed, and if we can verify that you aren't an antifa traitor who will burn our signs, we want to send you some signs. Not 1 or 5 signs. 30 or 50. We can't afford to ship 600 signs one at a time. Thanks. PM me. Let's talk. |

Quoted: You’re fucked its gonna pass. Plan accordingly, because wayne spent all that nra money bomb money on suits and couldn’t be bothered to defend gun rights in the fights that matter. @thebeekeeper1 JFC, dude.... This State is worth fighting for. Take your doom shit elsewhere. |

Where can I get some flyers, or a copy of them. I can get some printed and post around GP, RR, and Medford as needed. Don't really travel much further than that with fuel costs lately. I've been donating what I can as well. I'm sure if it hasn't been posted, the Rogue River Pharmacy would love a few. |

I made the same post you did in 2014 and thebeekeeper threatened to ban me for it. I guess im just blackpilled at this point |

Best of luck in your fight. Some suggestions based on my experience (and worth every cent you're paying for it). If it's going to be on the ballot, you need more than gun people to fight it. We can be ostracized, demonized, then ignored by "normal people" too easily. There are not enough of us, and the NRA was negligible in their help at best. Find another fundamental, individual right; paint it as being placed under the same prohibitive requirements; get people to agree it's wrong in principle and on moral grounds. Then have your "it might be guns this time - what will it be next time" moment. Prepare to fail and have it pass, and start figuring out now how you're going to legally attack it then. Can it be challenged under the recent Supremes rulings? How did it get on the ballot? Were signatures forged? Did they use a questionable company to collect signatures? Was there fraud or even the smallest procedural irregularity? Attack both its future and its origins. Take every opportunity to sow doubt about its legitimacy and undercut support. Public opinion matters even after it's law, and all it takes is getting one judge to question it for you to get yourself an injunction (caveat: IANAL). Do you have recall provisions in your state constitution? Can you go after vulnerable politicians who vocally support this? Get vindictive. End careers to punish them for overstepping. Let the others know there's a cost - you might be saddled with the laws, but their political futures are the price tag. Again, good luck. |
