[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Need help to fight Oregon ballot measure for permits and mag restrictions (Page 2 of 3)

Quoted: Where can I get some flyers, or a copy of them. I can get some printed and post around GP, RR, and Medford as needed. Don't really travel much further than that with fuel costs lately. I've been donating what I can as well. I'm sure if it hasn't been posted, the Rogue River Pharmacy would love a few. @ Liaztraht I have a copy of the flyer. PM me your email and I'll send it your way. |

I've been donating what I can as well. I'm sure if it hasn't been posted, the Rogue River Pharmacy would love a few. Got your PM and email sent with the flyer. If anyone else needs a pdf of the flyer, let me know. We're receiving support from the NRA in the form of yard signs and other material. I'll have those available in Salem. For those bashing the NRA, they, along with OFF, Oregon Shooting Sports (OSSA) and some other individuals, were in opposition to this from day one. When this was still an initiative, they were the ones writing to, and testifying in front of the SoS about the misrepresentation and misleading information in the title and description of the measure. They are also the ones on record with objections and statements. NRA-ILA is also supplying other materials and information. I'm new at doing any organizing and getting the word out but am finding that we have strong allies. What we need most are more foot soldiers to get the word out. @KeithC, thank you for your advice. The measure is on the ballot. Unfortunately, our SoS is a part of the left wing cabal so fighting this as an initiative was an exercise in futility. I agree with you that we need more than preaching to the choir. There are several gun store owners that have commented that they were seeing a large number of moderate democtats buying guns for the first time during the Covid scare and soon after the BLM and ANTIFA riots. The fact that we have more and more homeless camps around has also got people frightened. I know we need to reach out to moderates and that's one of the biggest reason for educating the base and encouraging them to reach out to others. As far as planning for defeat, to be honest, I'm too busy fighting for a win to waste resources on it. |

Quoted: As far as planning for defeat, to be honest, I'm too busy fighting for a win to waste resources on it. Understood, and winning SHOULD be the goal. But having a next phase at the ready can keep your people from being demoralized and thinking it's over if it breaks that way. Definitely have to prioritize resources, but don't think of it as a waste. |

Quoted: Not that I disagree… But that doesn’t mean you should give up. That’s a sure fire way to lose. I'm a Gunsmith in So Oregon. my business would be crushed. But Ive been in Or for 50+ years and I've seen the way that .gov here works/protects itself. State started to go to shit about the time they switched to mail in ballets. |

Probably got lost in all my other notifications ![]() A couple things I've been emphasizing, depending on who I'm talking to: If I see they carrying, I make note of the gun on their hip and how their 11 or higher mag would get get them arrested, even though they are allowed to "keep it". If they are more lefty, I mention how the bill gives absolute authority to the "racist" state police to permanently refuse background checks. This allows them to refuse the lawful transfer of firearms to the BIPOC community. The second one is dirty, but you have to play dirty like the far left to beat the far left. And we all know how they love to play the race thing. Also, the cops racially profiling is one of their favorite things to fight

Quoted: I'm a Gunsmith in So Oregon. my business would be crushed. But Ive been in Or for 50+ years and I've seen the way that .gov here works/protects itself. State started to go to shit about the time they switched to mail in ballets. So OR gunsmith? Got a storefront? I would like to stop by and see what work you do sometime. Gunsmiths are a dying breed. We need more young folks to take up the art. I got veto'd for setting something up at the Roseburg Gun Show. The organizer told me nothing political allowed. He did say the Roseburg Gun Club was having a discussion about it sometime this week though. |

I got veto'd for setting something up at the Roseburg Gun Show. The organizer told me nothing political allowed. He did say the Roseburg Gun Club was having a discussion about it sometime this week though. I'm getting some of the same pushback but it depends on the club and how many Karen's are on the committees. If there's a way for you to talk to any of the vendors beforehand, make sure they understand the consequences and they'll pass the word themselves. Don't be discouraged. If given the information, the most affected will begin to take action regardless of artificial obstacles. |
|
Quoted: Just wait a minute. Im sure that the NRA will get involved and fix this. Actually, they are in the mix and some of the first in. I wasn't aware of their involvement until I dug deeper. They are providing yard signs, materials for handouts, and are also sponsoring town halls weekly. We're at a point now that information and voting are our only recourse. The legal wrangling is done and we have to deal with what we have. |

Quoted: Theres a lot of good dudes over at the Josephine county shooting complex. NRA lol, dont waste your time. Same with RVSSA if I head out that way. I live about half way between both, but 90% of my time away from home is in the GP area. I'll also hit all the gun stores that are open that I can. |

See post on previous page. Thx. |

I was just going to hit the places I shop locally, plus the range. If giving them more than one sign, I might be able to get 20 planted. I don't usually do these kinds of things, so I don't know if I would be effective. |

You'd probably be great. And we probably already have 50 signs coming to your community, and two guys who want 15 signs each, which means there are 20 left, and if you take 12, some other guy will take 8. PM me. I'll send you a number. We can talk. And thanks for already doing more than most. Even if you only hand out flyers, you have already done more than most. We all appreciate that. |

Quoted: Hey, I'm Dave, with the Powder River Sportsmen's Club in Baker City, OR. We just spent $5000 to buy lawn signs and banners. Our plan is to ship most of them to allies on the west side of the state. Free. See the signs at https://www.prsportsmen.com/114.html . Oregon political landscape: East side is sparsely populated, conservative. Northwest corner is densely populated, liberal, wags the dog. In a few days, we'll be shipping the OP a thousand dollars worth of signs. He's a boots on the ground guy. Making a real difference. We're glad to chip in. Oregon Firearms Federation is leading statewide opposition to M114. They started a new PAC: stop114.com . We put their PAC on our signs. If half the arfcom membership sent $5 to stop114.com, our odds of defeating M114 would increase dramatically. Anyone can complain. If you want to take over statewide leadership in protecting the RKBA, then do it already. Otherwise, get on board with people who are doing it, or be quiet. Leftists are very good at uniting liberals by appealing to their emotions. Moderates and Conservatives are typically independent thinkers, difficult to unite. If gunowners cannot put aside minor differences to unite in support of shared goals, we will continue to lose. We already made contacts in Klamath, Ashland, Roseburg, and Salem. We need contacts in Portland, Eugene, Corvallis, Grants Pass, Redmond, and Bend. If you can use your club or personal or business network to make good use of 50 signs, and if you will commit to getting them intelligently placed, and if we can verify that you aren't an antifa traitor who will burn our signs, we want to send you some signs. Not 1 or 5 signs. 30 or 50. We can't afford to ship 600 signs one at a time. Thanks. PM me. Let's talk. |

So if this were to pass, and I get caught still carrying my stock Glock mags (I'm not going to 10 rounders) who will help my defense? I often carry 2 reloads, so that would be three "large capacity magazine" charges. ![]() Someone is eventually gonna get caught not complying, and if available I will donate what I can to their defense. Luckily my area cops are chill on guns, but the staties are assholes. |
Was able to print up 100 copies of the flyer with change I scrounged around the house. Gonna dig through the change jar for more quarters tonight. Also have 35 bucks sitting in my bottle drop account if I need to print more. All that change was just collecting dust anyways ![]() Currently planning my route through all the open gun stores in GP tomorrow, as well as the range in Merlin. Set up to get some yard signs that I will offer up as well. Whatever isn't taken by shops, I will find a place to plant that is as public as possible, without violating town ordinances. Worst case, I have family and friends in town where could probably plant a sign or two in their front yards that will get some decent public view. I'll save that option for a last ditch effort. A good few stores are on higher traffic areas, like RR highway, redwood highway area, 6th/7th and F street. Those will be priority areas for signage. |

Heading out to hit the GP gun stores. If I come across any that refuse to fight 114, I'll make sure to avoid them for future purchases. Maybe even pull a Karen and write a bad review Gun rights are universal. If we can convince the fence sitters of that, we can win. We WILL win! |

If anyone has put together a flyer/email that is succinct (text, pdf, jpg - don't care) that they would like to share with me, please do so. I do CHL training and to date have 7,441 entries, most with email addresses in my database. I have always resisted using that for mass mailings, but in this case, I think it is important enough that I might overcome my reluctance to spam by past clients. If no-one has anything they want to share, I will probably create something myself. |

I do CHL training and to date have 7,441 entries, most with email addresses in my database. I have always resisted using that for mass mailings, but in this case, I think it is important enough that I might overcome my reluctance to spam by past clients. If no-one has anything they want to share, I will probably create something myself. Here's a short description and explanation: (start) Measure 114 enacts a law outlining a procedure to apply for a permit to purchase a firearm and prohibits ammunition magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds. Measure 114 is the most extreme attempt at undermining the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, protected by both the US constitution and the Oregon Constitution, in the country. The US Supreme Court recently struck down laws in New York of a similar nature as unconstitutional. The measure will not reduce the tragedy of gun violence. As an unfunded mandate, it will cost taxpayers millions in legal fees for state government to defend it in the courts when lawsuits are inevitably filed against it if passed. The Oregon Sheriffs Association says it will cost at least $40 million for their offices to implement. (end) Can't stress enough that this is a grass roots effort. The party and campaigns are embroiled in their multiple races and issues. I get the impression they are dealing with so much, that they're performing triage on the top problems, and just don't have time left over to give this the attention it deserves. A big thank you to all that are working hard on this but we're not even close to the finish line yet. Keep up the energy and keep talking to people. |
|
Quoted: Turns out the JCSA range is required to stay neutral on anything political. But I belive I've hit every shop from RR to GP. All were enthusiastic and willing to tell anyone shopping to convince their friends that are neutral on guns to vote no. |
|
Anybody have a 1 page version of the No on 114 flyer? TL:DNR is a real thing for most people. We need bullets points, big letters and easy words. We need to reach the people who aren’t super motivated and politically active. They aren’t going to read a full page, let alone two or three pages. |
|
Quoted: Didn't know "ACE Buyers" was a shop, thought you gonna hit the shoppers at ACE hardware ![]() I do need to put pawn shops on my list too. Some Ace Hardware stores also sell firearms. For those that don't, I've had good luck talking to the guys in the store. Can give out a few flyers and some have directed me to other stores that I would not have known sell guns. Depends on the community, but some small engine repair shops and NAPA auto parts stores can be good places to share information and find homes for signs. |

Good turnout at the Albany gin show. Saturday was over 2,200 people, with around 1,500 Sunday. Distributed around 700 signs to shops and individuals and hundreds of brochures. We're getting the word out but still need more participation. Surprised at how many gun shop owners had no clue this was even on the ballot, but I think we did a good job educating people about this bill and it's nationwide ramifications. Thanks to those that volunteered to work the table and giving away signs outside. Oregon Firearms Federation, NRA, and Powder Valley Sportsmen's Club all contributed signs and material. |
| Really need to get more people to donate to the OFF-PAC. Specify 114 if you want. This is becoming a national issue and the outcome determines how much money Bloomberg and Gifford foundation will be pumping into other states. Regardless of the Bruen decision, they are introducing this legislation and daring us to take them to court. The have huge amounts of money available and are essentially trying to bankrupt us. We need to kill this measure in Oregon and do it in a decisive way. If we don't, every gun owner in the nation will feel the effects. If you think that pleas for money are annoying now, wait and see how much money it'll take for the lawsuits. |

Quoted: I'm doing what I can. Things have been tight lately You're doing great. Anyone that participates within their ability is contributing. Some can contribute more in time than money and vice versa. Spoke to Kevin at OFF today and he says contributions are coming in. Not necessarily big ones, but it shows that our campaign is having an effect with people contributing what they can. ETA: If anyone cares to do the research, they'll find that the sponsors have $120k ready to drop as soon as ballots are sent out. We started out with only $20k so are the ones that really need the grass roots efforts. let's make sure our voices are heard. If any of you work for big companies that can contribute, let them know they need to turn on the faucets quickly. If this doesn't get soundly defeated in Oregon, other states are in for the same thing. |

Gun rights advocates need to hammer in the reality of oregon being a lawless state. My county is not prosecuting anything less than a felony. Petty crime is rampant. As well as unoccupied home break ins, car theft, property crimes. Not to mention the legalization of hard drug use and drugged up homeless wandering around screaming at everything. I currently live in a rural area. The county sheriff response is 1 to 2 hours. If someone breaks into my house while I am home, I am on my own. Oregon leadership has hamstrung law enforcement, made oregon more dangerous, and now wants to take away oregon citizens ability to protect themselves. I am 15 years away from retirement. It is getting harder to justify staying. |

The 2A Rally at the Capitol is Saturday from Noon to 4. Great time to meet fellow 2A supporters and hear from quite a few powerful speakers. We're getting to the big push before ballots are mailed out on the 19th. It's critical that we all get together to spread the word. The Oregonian has already posted their poll with an assumption that 51% of liberals supporting the measure actually means 73%, since the "educated" voters will most surely support this BS. The knives are being drawn. We need to be aware and fight back. For those of you outside of Oregon, the measure is mainly sponsored by the Gifford Foundation. They essentially went shopping for a group that could submit the legislation and found a group of anti gunners in Portland willing to participate. The measure has wording copied from the Illinois permit laws which, once again, shows it's not a grass roots effort, it's an attack from national groups. If this passes, it will embolden the organizers to try this in other states. It means that we're being attacked from a well funded foe and need help. The best way I know of to help is to donate to Oregon Firearms Federation (OFF-PAC) . They are the only 100% second amendment, no compromise, support group in the state. web site and here's the one to the donation page.. I can't stress how important this to the country and how much everyone's help is needed. ETA: here's the link to the Stop 114 web page. You can donate there as well. Attached File |

One of the most difficult parts I've found of fighting 114... Freaking pro-gun lefties. Tried sharing the stop114 site, and instead of "thank you" I got called a chud and told to fuck off... no politics mentioned ![]() The only Oregon gun rights group is too right wing for them. Well any gun rights group. Damn clown world |

I hope there's still a shred of sensibility left in this State. If M114 passes, we've already decided that we're moving back to Texas. And I'm taking my company's and my personal tax dollars with me. I'm willing to fight to help Oregon, but I won't do it with both arms tied behind my back. We've uprooted before, we'll do it again if needed |

Quoted: PM me. I can print a few flyers, put one up a the gun range and share some with neighbors. So much this I would like to buy this fella a beer Most sensible comment in this thread, get off your asses and make something happen instead of just talking. Maybe if we all thought like this things would start to change in this country slowly but surely |

Maybe if we all thought like this things would start to change in this country slowly but surely I have about a ream of the handouts left and will be getting more before the rally tomorrow. If you're near Salem, let me know so we can get together. There are yard signs available east of the Cascades. If you can post some, let me know and I'll tell you where you can pick them up. There are also some 4 x 5" palm sized handouts. I can send you the pdf to have them printed. I'm paying $20 for 100 of them at Office Depot. Arf won't let me attach pdf files so will need to do that in a PM. If you can't post anything at work, a palm card on the bulletin board or taped onto your desk will get the word out. If nothing else, just write "No to 114" on a 3 x 5 card and post it on the community board. Biggest thing is to do something. I realize that gas is expensive but I'm doing two tanks a week distributing materials. If gun owners would contribute half that to pay for ads, it would help. It kind of pisses me off that the republican party is doing absolutely nothing that I know of on a state or national level to fight the measure. We're on our own people. There are no reinforcements or supplies coming. We're it. |

We're their enemy so they want nothing to do with us I hate our republicans almost as much as the dems. Just as useless. Especially after caving to their demands to not walk out. I've spent a good chunk of change on flyers and gas. Dropped more cans at the bottle drop to replenish funds |
