Thank you very much

Thats about what I thought. Do you know how many fighter squadrons would have been assigned to a carrier at that time.

or would it have been just 1?

Being an ex grunt I don't know much about the Naval setup.

Usually two figher squadrons are deployed at a time.

During the 80's the squadrons were smaller, due to the limited deck and hanger space on the FORRESTAL class conventional carriers.  Normally squadrons deployed with 10 aircraft.  Those wings assigned to NIMITZ class vessels deployed with 10-11 aircraft.

Victory is correct, and that callsign followed them when they became VFA-103 in the Superhornet

Thank you.

The VFA-103 stuff is where I found 'Victory'  but it never really said that it had been carried from VF-84

Arfcom does it again.

Again, thank all of you for the help.
