I just got a new Dan Wesson Patriot Marksman.  It's my first 1911.  I just picked her up yesterday. The trigger is very crisp, it probably breaks at about 4lbs.  Fit and finish are very nice. My only gripe so far is the magazine catch is kinda stiff. I figure it'll smooth after use. You just have to smack the magazines to seat them which is something I do anyways. I'm taking it out tommorow so I'll post an update then. These pics are crappy because the lightning is horrible right now. I usually like to take pics outside when it's sunny but it's late right now.

I got it for about $730 after shipping.  The Patriot lineup Dan Wesson's are a little nicer than their other ones because they use forged frames instead of cast like the Pointman lineup.  I like it so far but I haven't shot it.  They guarantee it'll shoot at least a 1 1/2" group and included a test target to verify this.  It took awhile to find a new blued Marksman because they only make the Patriot Expert now with adjustable sights.  I can't wait to try it out.

Actually, all my guns are toys.  I don't hunt, I don't use them for protection, I use them to have fun.  So they are pretty much just toys.

Edited to add: Nice gun.  Too bad they won't sell them here.  Stupid California.

Yes.....lighten up.  Its just an expression.  And to me, they are toys.  I also don't hunt.  I just enjoy shooting.  Wheather it be just plinking at targets or shooting a match.  I like playing with my "toys".

Sig 220

While inserting the mag, push the mag release button in, and push the mag in good and firm, then release the button before releaving pressure on the mag...See if that helps.  You really dont want to be slamming the mags in all the time.

Good looking toy, you cant have too many 1911's, and its is just as fun to supe up/accurize as the AR in the way that you can do a little at a time as you can afford it/feel like it.

Congrats!

About time!  What also really pisses me off is when people call their Toyota trucks "Toys".  It makes my sphincter tighten up even more than it already is.  Sometimes I can't even cop a squat for two or three days.

Keen pistol, btw.

I had not seen a Dan Wesson 1911.  Very nice looking pistol.

Give us a report after you've shot it.

Sounds painfull, but I just love to pile my "toys" in my "toy" tundra... Take 'em to the range and "play" with 'em.

Hope you dont slip a disk on that one!

Go here: Dan Wesson Patriot Series

Then click on the "View The Patriot Video"

"The Dan Wesson Patriot Series 1911s are targeted in our indoor shooting tunnel before shipping. While we only have 50ft indoor range, no Patriot is shipped unless it shoots 1.25in. or better."

I put 200rds through it earlier today (well I guess it was actually yesterday now). I just got 150rds of UMC and 50rds of Blazer Brass.  To bad Walmart doesn't have Federal American Eagle .   I didn't have a single problem.  It's easily the most accurate handgun I've fired or owned, but I've never had the chance to fire any pricey custom guns.  I didn't have any cardboard for targets but I knew there would be plenty of crap to shoot at the range I go to.  There was one box with a small shoot and see target on it that hadn't been shot.  I emptied my 3rd mag into it.  I probably had about a 3" group centered on the target.  This isn't great but I had barely warmed up to the gun and my experience with 1911's prior to this had been about 50rds through my friends mil-spec last year.    I think if I'd shot it on the last box of ammo it would've been better because I was more acclimated to how the gun shot.  I can make a can dance a hell of a lot faster with it than my other pistols, and it seems like I can point and shoot with it really well without really focusing on the sights a whole lot.  I'm very happy with it.  My P220 might start to feel neglected.

I think I used bad wording about the mag catch thing.  You don't have to SLAM the mags in.  Whenever I'm just fiddling with my guns I slide the mag in after I clear it kinda slowly I guess.  With the stiff catch it's just hard to slowly slide a mag in.  When I was at the range I didn't even notice nor did my friend who tried it because in that situation we aren't slowly sliding in a mag.  Does this make sense to anyone or am I wording this retardedly??  It seems to not be as stiff now since it's gotten some use.

My wife is gonna kill me.  I just ordered a nib Norinco 1911 for $400.  I've heard great things about them and I like my new Patriot so much i figured what the heck.  If anyone's interested I think the guy has a bunch more.
