I have been wanting a lever action .357 mag for about 6 months now. I finally saw a new Rossi model 92, blued, with 20 inch barrel at a gunshop yesterday that I don't go to too often. I am a longtime friend of the gunsmith there ( I am also a gunsmith), and I happened to be dealing with him on this purchase.
The Rossi was marked $396+tax. I decided to take an old USGI Match .45 slide with me as trading material to maybe knock off $50-$75 off of the price. When I got there he showed me a bunch of confiscated guns that he purchased from a PD. There was a Star Super 9mm Largo in the lot that I decided I might want, so I asked him what he would take for it and the Rossi if I traded the slide in too.
He took $415 cash (and the slide) tax and all for the Star Super 9mm AND the Rossi!!! The Star Supers trade for around $200 here so I think I got a pretty good deal!
I came home and converted the Star to fire .38 Super, a pretty easy conversion.
