yes. ironically it was the same day (IIRC) that i gave advice to steyr aug and bragged about my computer. The good news is that its up and running. the bad news is that until we can install a new harddrive and transfer all the data from the old primary drive (which is failing) we cant really do anything major. Im writing this in haste in case the thing were to crash again.

I have been using library computers for threads on pre-ban.com (and getting strange looks from other library goers)

I know the site was down for awhile (bummer) I had an awsome evening that i have to tell yall about sometime. I did alot of shooting with friends in the backyard and shot a .357 magnum and im not too impressed with the recoil (i.e. its light)

Ill tell yall all about it when i can but now i need to get off. I just thought id let yall know where i was in case yall were wondering (by any slim chance)

Marine grunt I will be praying for your kidnapped friend as much as possible and i hope she is alive and well.

I know how you feel with library computers. I use the library at school to get my daily fix of arfcom sometimes.. You just gotta tell them all to STFU.

Honestly though, never had any odd looks, surprisingly.

well it being a public library and everyone being "quiet crazy" i havnt got any lip......yet.

But the odd looks come mostly from elderly people anyway.

BTW i think i brought my friend "Josh" over to the dark side. He was afraid to shoot my ar15 at first because he thought the recoil would be bad. [lol]

I showed him how to do the "bump" and then he let off a 30 round mag and when he was done the grin on his face was priceless! [:D]

Now if only i can convince him that $900 isnt to much to pay for a good AR. [;D]

So did mine.  My son comes in and wakes us up at 4 in the morning.  He was chaatting on IM with friends.  Gonna kill them all.  Said flash CLICK and bye-bye.  Luckily it turned out to be the power supply only.  But got and installed a new hard drive while I had it apart.

Now the floppy is failing on boot and it's not recognizing the new drive.  So off to the books and help pages.    Been a while since I installed a second drive and I bet the cable is not the right one.  No matter wht the folks at the store said.  The floppy is surprising because all that happened with that was unplugging the old power supply and plugging in the new one.

Since Ma is the Librarian and her fellow workers tolerate me going to the gun and RR pages. I've assisted in bouncing  some unruly kids so they figure I*'m nice to have around.   Apparently somebody (a customer not co-worker) bitched to her about me on a gun page and she told them to take it up with me since it wasn't porn.

well good news on my end. The computer has been fixed, and it now even runs quieter than before. [:)]

Although this does not spell the end of the computer odyssey but only signals the beginning of my quest to build my own dang custom computer.

more on this in the future. [devil]

Speaking of crashes, my Array's died on my slave drives. They keep resetting on reboot so I fear I'm gonna lose data. But I ordered a new 120gb seagate which should be here tomorrow [:D]
