I grew up around guns and learned early to respect them and proper gun safety. I spent last night going over weapons safety with my 10 year old son. I think if you take away the curiosity of guns, let the kids handle them under supervision,if they come accross a gun i.e. at school or a friends they will know how to handle the situation.

Oh yeah, perish the thought of having the cops say "Excuse me, we here you've been teaching your children proper gun control. Sir, we cannot allow that - these individuals must be kept in the dark about all things firearm, so they can develop a natural curiosity and bring such items to school, at which time they learn their lesson by being shot dead by a fellow police officer." It's a bloody cold day in Hell when any parent, seperated or otherwise, cannot instruct their children on general firearms safety. Of course, at this political rate, it looks like Hell might just freeze over by the time the late GEN-X crowd becomes parents.
