Bad ass! Very nice USC conversion! The mag well is exactly the way it should be....some that use greese gun mags are angled weird. Yours looks great...who did the conversion?

You'll have the chance to shoot it Sunday at Hite Hollow!

Tactical Excellence and I did the conversion. I'll have more to write up and better pics but I'm off to the tax man. By the way, that's a real UMP lower as well as stock. There is only one non HK part on the gun (not including the B&T flash hider ).

The gun started out as an H&K USC and was given the Top Notch grease gun conversion by HDPS. Although the Grease Gun conversion ran flawlessly, I really didn't like the grease gun mags and wanted the bolt hold open and paddle mag release features.

Tactical Excellence did the final conversion and as you can see it came out perfect. The gun is virtually indistinguishable from an FBI (0,1) type UMP.

Where did you find mags?   I assume those arent 10 shot.    Very nice setup.   Beats the hell out of the HK94 I wanted
3/30/2005 7:47:15 PM EDT

The mags can be found fairly easily on the net. The going proces is from $50 (lucky to find) to $68 (stupid to buy). I paid $55 for mine. Try Sturmgewhr (spelling), Clyde Armory, Centermass Firearms, Jay's Gun SHop in FLA etc.

Looks great Bomber! Mine will be going in next month for the conversion Did you cut down the original barrel and add a UMP barrel flange for the B&T to attach to, or add a real UMP barrel?

Bomber can give you an exact price run down - but here is what you will need to start rounding up if you are going to have one built.

HK USC .45 - getting very hard to find now, as they are no longer sold here by HK
HK UMP lower receiver
HK UMP magazines
HK UMP folding stock
B&T UMP flash hider

3/30/2005 8:44:42 PM EDT

Where can one find the lower receiver?

Add another $600.00 for them to actually assemble it. All that Tactical Excellence supplies is the rear block and labor I believe, you have to provide all the other parts. With Top-Notch, they at least provide the lower and this is where I'm stumped. I think the Tactical Excellence conversion is more accurate but the Top-Notch conversion is more cost effective, but they do have to also modify the receiver in order to accept their stock.

I was quoted about 1120.00 (plus shipping & handling) from Top Notch when their project was "ready to roll" (about 4 months ago ). They wanted 100% up front down payment, and work was promised to be done about 6 - 10 weeks out from the time they emailed me to send in my USC.

Top Notch supplies all parts, but only "one or two" of these parts / components are actual HK manufacture.

These parts / components include actual HK UMP lower (and your parts from the donor USC), and the magazines. TN manufactures the folding stock hinge assembly, folding stock (which is a piece of crap IMHO compared to the HK stock - I have compared them side by side) If I am wrong on this, or have missed anything please correct me.

So... from the Top Notch web site:

This kit is sold only as listed do not call and ask for changes to the options if you do not like the packages we offer we are sorry but this is the only way we will sell the kits and guns.

These kits are sold on a custom order basis only. The parts are gathered up after the order is placed. We will never inventory all of the parts to make these kits as most of the parts are Hk and are very expensive, there is a 4-10 week delivery based on the package you choose and the delivery of parts to support the build. Other companies are now offer similar product, we will NOT work on or update anyones USC that has already been worked on by other companies.

This is how to order:

1) Call Top Notch and get on the list, within 7 days a copy of this form and full payment (just over 1100.00 + tax & shipping in my case) must be sent or you will be crossed off the list.

2) When Top Notch is about 7-10 days from having the parts to do your gun they will call and e-mail you, you then send in your USC and the gun will be done in about 2 weeks the entire time for the order should be 4-10 weeks.

3) DO NOT call and check your place in line this is first come first serve based on parts availability

Price Breakdown for a Top Notch Conversion:

(1) $1000 - 1500 HK USC .45  depending on condition

(2) $325.00 Top Notch USC/UMP kit   (Original Grease Gun Coversion kit that has the folding stock hinge component and stock)

(3) $595 45 Cal UMP (stock 16” barrel) conversion kit
-Dye your gun at no charge if necessary
-NEW UMP semi auto lower modified to fit USC/UMP modified gun
-Additional modification to the receiver in the mag well area
-2 factory UMP 25 round mags
-Bolt carrier modified
-USA trigger parts(sear, trigger)

(4) $75         Add Vent cuts (optional but considered a must have in my opinion)

(5) $25 each Add rails (optional)

(6) $50     Add Vertical Grip (optional)

$2120.00 (if you picked up a USC for $1000.00 and purchased all options)

Tactical Excellence Break down:

$1000 - $1500 HK USC .45
$225- 350       HK UMP Lower
$150               HK UMP Stock
$600               Labor and hinge assembly for folding stock, and two USA made fire control parts
$25 each         3  rails
$?                   vertical grip of choice
$55 - 65       25 round magazines

$2160.00 (assuming you picked up the lower for $225, and 2 mags for $55, and used one of your existing vertical grips to save a few bucks )

Last report I had from TN is that they are still waiting on PARTS, and Bailey is bad mouthing Tactical Excellence's conversion on his forum. I have not personally heard of any of their conversions (SBR or 16") being delivered yet (but I could be wrong).

Maybe he is pissed that Tactical Excellence is actually delivering?

All I can say is blackgun got in completely right. In the end, if you buy your parts correctly, the TE and TN conversions are essentially equal in price and the only difference is TE has two on the street with a 3rd and 4th in process. Haven't heard anything on TN's. The other and I think more important consideration is with TE's there are only a few parts that are not original HK (Receiver block and mounting screws) and what TE manufacturesrs is first class.

Are far as assembly is concerned, it took me all of 2 minutes to assemble the gun. I had to assemble it since mine was sbr'd and I didn't feel like going thru the paperwork to ship my gun to FL, so I sent my old lower receiver, mine UMP lower receiver and my UMP stock. What came back was my old receiver stripped, my UMP receiver with the USC parts in it, my UMP fire control parts in a bag and my stock mounted to a absolutely beautiful and bullet proof receiver block which is actually the best quality item on the gun including the B&T flashider.

I feel good about saying my gun is an H&K. Not sure I would feel the same if my stock and internal parts were not.

It's a real UMP barrel. I bought it for $400 from Jay's and I was able to sell my USC barrel for $400 so it didn't cost me anything.

And who carries the UMP lower????????????? I can't seem to find any just laying around for sale. In fact bomber you were listed on Tactical Excellence's website not too long ago as able to provide UMP lowers so tell me where to get one. I'm not being hostile but I like their conversion a little better than Top-Notch's and since I already have a approved SBR USC, then help a fellow out.

I would try Sturmgewhr (spelling), it's an equipment exchange. You could also try the following:

Clyde Armory
Centermass Firearms
Jay's Gun Shop

I was able to get to the range today briefly. I couldn't wait to shoot it until Sunday and wanted it sighted in by then. Ran thru 200 rounds in short order. Not one functional issue. The accuracy is great. From 25 yards it pretty easy to make a fist sized hole in the target with one magazine.
