Go Here Visiting in Phoenix looking for fun stuff to do between family visits and happened on to this... If you have any interests in music and musical instruments this place is a destination. |

From what I can tell, it just opened this month. We were there for nearly 4 hours. There were many exhibits still incomplete. Noticeably missing is Gibson's exhibit. The Martin and Fender exhibits were tasty, very tasty. John Lennon's Imagine piano is there as well as the Steinway 'Peace' piano. Dick Dale has made a major instrument and amplifier contribution. Eric Clapton's 'Brownie' guitar is there on exhibit. It needs a Hendrix guitar...
There's an exhibit for just about every 'nation' on the planet. There's a ton's worth of native hand crafted musical instruments and so much music being played that I had to take the headset off to avoid complete sensory overload! There's an 'acoustically perfect' concert hall and a performance schedule that's begging for MORE. The museum itself is an architectural wonder. It is huge, expansive, enormous. I can't imagine visiting Phoenix and not returning to see what's been added and what's changed. Phoenix is very lucky to have such a collection and exhibit. This is a major, major contribution to the musical world. |
