My wife surprised  me with tickets to a local Muse concert. I listened to about two tracks off an album. They suck ...bad. The problem is the concert is in Detroit not an area that I want my wife to take my daughter. Should I man up and go knowing it will be painful? Or should I tell to go with my daughter?

Edit: great show. Thanks for the push to go AFCOM!

Try listening to "Map of the Problematique" and "Starlight"

Those are two that I've liked.

I'm a big Muse fan. Yeah they're hippie wackos, but they're talented hippie wackos...

Evidently their live shows are amazing.

i don't like every track they have done, but as bands go they rank right up there for me.

they are all classically trained musicians, are a good tight band to listen to, and they fill stadiums here in the UK.

I must be out of as I'm not familiar with these guys at all. I listen mainly to blues and older rock. The videos are helpful-thanks. Live music is always better.

They aren't bad, I would definitely go and give them a chance. Have a few beers and lower your expectations.

Aren't they huge libertarians? I remember Glenn Beck was on a big Muse kick a few years ago when I used to listen to his show.

this.

I've been to a ton of shows, and they have put on some of the best I've been too.

Hell of a band live. I'm a fan too though, so YMMV.

They're kind of squirrely politically.

The lead singer is/was kind of a truther at one point, IIRC

I'm not a BIG fan of their newest albums.

But anything from them between 2001 and 2008 is gtg.

Supermassive Blackhole is the only song I really like that I've heard from them so far. But I'd say man up and go. Your wife will appreciate the gesture and often times bands are better live than what you hear on the album.

Go to the show. You will like it. I was just at the Cleveland show and there is a reason why they got the "best show" BRIT Award two years in a row. The stage, band and music will not disapoint.
