Motion light on my house is turning off and on every 5 seconds. I turned the switch off for a few mins but problem remains

Any ideas?

Should stay on longer than 5 seconds.  Switch circuit for the motion sensor fried?  Lens for the motion sensor dirty?

dont some motion lights have a sensitivity setting? I seem to remember some that did

Timer may be adjustable too.

If the floodlight lamp holders are good install new motion detector by RAB. Or get new three hole weather proof cover and make your own floodlights with RAB motions and use 120W equivalent LED floods. The premade LED and motion lights look like a pain to replace individual parts.

There is a fenced in lot near where I live, looks like construction materials.

It has 4 sets of lights, 2 each on 4 poles. They appear to be stupid bright LED floodlights.

Weird thing is, they take turns being on, randomly bouncing left--right-------left---right---left----right---left...

And so on. Anybody know why?

Yup. My first thought too.

I call dibs on whatever hasn't been claimed.

They may be triggering each other. Kind of what is known in electronics as a "ring counter".

The sensors break all the time. Expect less than about 2 years out of a typical motion sensor fixture. Replace it and move on.

Replace it, or at least clean the spider web off the sensor.

Odd to see this thread today.  The dog area's flood light I have had a remote off/on switch for went belly up after 4 years was just replaced yesterday because of that.  Some times electronic stuff just shorts out, overheats, or dies for unknown reasons, and has to be replaced.
