It's the middle of April in AL and fucking mosquitos are out for blood.  Not abnormal but y'all pray for is down here for the next 6 months that we don't get the zika virus or worse. It's been abnormally warm here.  Should I start a gofundme page for treatment?

ETA correction of my drunk OP.

I had one flying in my eye as I was blasting a NC turkey this morning...around 100 bites on me right now, but the downed bird was worth it.

Next December/January, when you're freezing your ass off in Ohio, I'll make sure to PM you about how it got down to 60 degrees last night here in Tampa Bay and we think there's an ice age rolling thru.

Few years ago, my 4 brothers and I went on a late August, 7-day wilderness camping trip. Mosquitos cut it down to 36 hours.

The cloud of dive-bombers laughed at our attempts at deterance.
Deep Woods Off? Lol.
95% Deet? Lol.
Bathing in campfire smoke as a last ditch? Lol.
Long sleeves and sealing off every access to your body? Lol.

Only thing we didn't have was Thermacell. Don't think they would have cared.

Didn't sleep more than 1 hour that night. Packed it all up and hiked back to the vehicle the next morning.

Good luck.

Here in MI, if there's no significant wind, Thermacell works well. The active ingredient in Thermacell pads is actually an insecticide capable of killing skeets. They stay far enough away to avoid that, but it'll kill 'em if you use it indoors where they can't get away.

Another item I tested that I was skeptical of but actually works is Gardenia oil.

I've used the Invisaband brand on Amazon and they actually work. If the skeets aren't bad, I can use one band. If it's bad, I'll use 2 (1 on wrist, 1 on opposite side shoe), or 4.

If it's as bad as the swarm in the pics posted above, I've got those head to toe insect netting outfits from UST. Spray it with Permethrin so they can't/won't land.

I saw a skeeter app that you take a pict of one and it tells if it is a zika strain.  There are also types that are wildly more aggressive than others.

It's a way to see if they are on the move and an early warning if found where they otherwise may not have been known to be.

With all the zika last yr and a wet season that we have had this yr could be the stuff of nightmares.

 Saw this on pbs

Yes, as long as it isn't very windy. I night fish a lot and it's the only way to make it through a night on the river.

I feel ya OP, they do suck. I had my fill of them in Jan. when they were gnawing on my in my treestand when it was 80deg.

So I've been used to it for 4mos.  And now it's almost Yellow Fly season. Where you will be bitten on any exposed skin when in the woods or coastal areas where the wind is <15 mph.

And they love the color blue for some reason, wear some blue shorts and it's comical how they will descend on you.

Done a shit ton of research on them. From what I've seen, they do not, least not enough to justify the expense. Pure Deet performed much better.
