What can I expect to pay for a new Mossberg 590?  What does a good used one go for?  Thanks

I payed $369 about a month ago.  Probably too much, but I try to support my local gunshop.

I found the same price at the gun show this weekend. Thats plain gun, no speedfeed no ghost ring.

Mine has the ghost ring sights, but not the speedfeed stock.

There are a lot of variations on the 590 theme.  You need to figure out the configuration that you like.  Plus the A1 generally goes for a litte more.  What do you want?

All I need is a plain/standard model as I'm contemplating an AOW project.

There are SOOOOOO many Mossberg 590s it would be hard to say.

I bought a 590A1 (mil spec) #51517 with a 18.5" barrel, parkerized and ghost ring sights for $395 and knew it was a bargain. Hard to find here in PRK too, so I got it from gunfinder.net as a special order. The 20" with the bayonet lug and ghost ring sights is $380 from them, but I wanted the shorter one. If you do not care about the mil spec upgrades then you can get essentially the same thing  for $20 less.

For $369 retail that must be the blued barrel, bead sight with the heatshield (50645).

Try to find one used in good condition and it'll drop the price significantly.  Maybe check your local range for posted ads.  I did and I got one in like new condition (maybe 98%, but blueing was all intact) for $135 plus transfer fees.  Just don't do the transfer through some giant sporting goods store, the local gunshops need it more.  Oh, and remember that ghost ring sights are an ordeal to attach if they don't come with the gun, so if you want them, make sure they're already attached.  All the other accessories are easy to put on after the fact.

WHat time of AOW project are you planing?  The reason I ask is, doesn't the shotgun have to have been never assembled with a sholder stock?  Don't all 590's come that way?

I thought that everyone bought the 500 cruiser models that had a pistol grip to make AOW's.

Is there a AOW that you can build with a sholder-stock equipped shotgun?

Bought my 590 (minus speedfeed and ghost ring) a little over a year ago from a local shop for $330 after tax.  They had to order it, and tacked a little on for their trouble, but was a great deal.  My local gunshops are pretty good.

just don't point that damn thing at me."

Can those ghost ring sights fit on an older 590?

I bought mine back in 94, has the barrel shroud and bayo lug. I paid 289or so at Turners Outdoorsman.

The small bead type frontsight broke during a safe party.

Thanks

www.gunwholesale.com

50645    20" Syn, bead - $257.00
50660    20" prkd, syn, bead - $288.00
50665    20" speedfeed, blue, bead $317.00
50668    20" ghost ring, speedfeed, prkd,
            $317.00

590s should have a heavy barrel and therefore will not accept a heat sheild.

When I bought mine last month, the gun shop had three: New 590A1 $400 (metal trigger set, ghost rings, plain stock) this is the one I bought. New 590 $400 (plastic trigger set, ghost rings, speed stock). Used (barely, maybe not even fired) Marine coat $300 (bead sight).

Thanks for the heads up c-rock!

I just bought a 590A1 w/ 20 inch barrel, ghost ring sights and a speed feed stock. Bought it at the local dealer here in McHenry.

Little more than $400, but seems to be worth every penny.

Looks like I'll be at Ottawa this sunday (10/21)! [:D]

No prob on the heads up, just helping people find deals.
Have fun at the pit with yours. I had mine at the last shoot, and its a blast to shoot.
Don't forget to get some cheap aldi pop to shoot.  Around $4 a case.   Have someone toss them from behind you into the pit, and try and blast them out of the air. Shake cans first!  #9 shot works the best.
I was planning to hit bristol next week.
Also, I think AFARR is going to be down there this weekend, not sure.  If you see a short guy with lots of 50's and FNC's, you found him! [;)]

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be meeting him down there with a buddy of mine. And we use the generic Wal-Mart soda. Explodes just as good!  [:D]
