Is there anything on the market for a non pest control person to buy to control mosquitoes? Thought about trying Mosquito Barrier. Not sure if it works as advertized, Anyone try it or know of a good thing to use.
I live on a half acre that is pretty wooded and the skeeters are terrible this year. We cannot go outside for 5 minutes without having to cover in bug spray. |
| is there a pond near by ? or any standing water you could try these dunks dunks @ Amazon but you can get them anywhere like walmart or Lowe's that will kill the larva ... the grown ones use a zapper |

Nothing on my property though. Thats why I am looking for something that will keep them out of my yard. I have no standing water anywhere on my property. |

I got one of those things that you connect to your hose and spray on your lawn from Home Depot / Lowes. It actually cut down mosquitos by about 70% and lasted for ~3 months or so. Worked fairly well. Do you know what brand? I have tried one in the past and it did nothing. |

Do you know what brand? I have tried one in the past and it did nothing. I have a mosquito control guy that my wife found via Groupon. He has a Stihl backpack sprayer/fogger that he walks the property and sprays the shrubs and trees, especially the underside of leaves. That is where the mosquito's hang out. He also sprays any place that water can gather and sit. The product he uses is pyrethrhin which kills the mosquitos and another chemical that kills any eggs. The pyrethrin can be purchased at LESCO in many forms, but the liquid concentrate I (and he) use is called CrossCheck. I don't recall the name of the egg killer. Works for 3 months at a time. Not bad for $50. |
| I saw a guy use a fogger that used propane and insecticide to fog the grass around his horse trailer at a horse show. He fogged all the grass within 10-15 yards of his trailer and it really cut down on mosquitos around his horses. Another man I knew lived near a swamp and used a bug zapper. He had it on for the first three nights and hauled away a wheelbarrow full of mosquitos in the morning. There are also traps that put out CO2 to attract the mosquitos and kill them. |
| Use this about once a month from April to October never had any problems with skeeters. |

Cutter's Bug Free Back Yard works pretty well and is available at Home Depot. Hooks to your water hose. Kind of obvious but if it rains a lot after you apply it doesn't last as long. Not bad stuff. sometimes NOTHING will work. This year its unbearable in my yard. |
