Could get it for about the same price as your SIG (which is in my top 3 or 4).

Dudes, the one thing I would change about the Sig Sauer SG 552 is that huge-ass-sticking-out-like-a-good-time-is-about-to-happen charging handle.

How can one make it through a doorway, let alone underbrush without snagging it on just about everything?

Needs a folding thingy, ala an FAL...no?

VERY VERY COOL SHIT!

Oh yeah, Ray, these SG552's had OK accuracy according to the article I read on them.  Maybe its just the carbine length, but I'll take an AR15 any day over a Swiss rifle.  (When was the last time they used a gun in combat anyway?)

Well, if I could only own one assault rifle, I'm afraid I would have to go with a rifle that takes the most commonly available magazine in my part of the world.

Which last time I checked, was the M16/AR15 mag.

I would probably still go, with my Rock River LAR15 Mid-Length A4 Carbine W/Weaver Rail Gas Block, RRA Scope Mount and Harris BR Bi-pod.

If funds were unlimited, However, I would probably upgrade to Trijicons 3x9x40 scope, Buy a whole lot more of RGuns Teflon 20 round mags,
Maybe pick up a Meprolite 21 Reflex sight, A Small GG&G Flashlight mounting rail, And An M3 light and maybe a nice Assault Systems Bag to carry the whole mess around in.

I think that would about cover it for me.

There can be only one.

My choice is the HK21E.

http://www.remtek.com/arms/hk/mil/21/21.htm

Who needs a mag?
"The HK21E can also pull a free hanging belt longer than 7 feet in length into the weapon during firing without assistance, a mark of excellent belt pull and reliability, a characteristic especially appreciated in less than ideal environmental conditions. "

But it will take mags too!
"Often times the demonstrator will convert the weapon from caliber to caliber and from box feed to belt feed and back in under a minute without tools as the crowd looks on, finishing each manipulation by firing a box, drum or belt of ammunition to demonstrate the weapon's proper function. This kind of performance is typical of that which has made the HK21E appreciated by those who know machine guns. The standard U.S. military published price for the HK21E complete with 22.0 or 17.7 inch barrel, detachable bipod with adjustable folding legs, assault grip, carrying handle, pistol grip cleaning kit, plastic muzzle cap, a combat carrying sling and operators manual is @ $4,600 U.S. This price is comparable to or less than many competing designs that offer far less in the way of performance and features than those offered as standard on the HK21E. "

Too bad we can't be trusted by the gov't to own them. [rolleyes]

I'll have to agree with drfcolt here. (Very cool guns BTW).... if I'm going SHTF I want something suppressed. The Colt SMG is perfect... pack it with 147gr. 9mm (subsonic) and you will have an effective weapon out ot 50m maybe even 100m and beyond 300m it won't be heard at all. But I think for true SHTF I'd want something with more punch. I'd go with the M4 with a Gemtech M4-96D suppressor and probably a carry handle mounted 2x20 Compact ACOG. This would give me effective firepower out to roughly 300m and much beyond that it would be very difficult to hear and even harder to get a beat on where the sound is coming from.

Then for the Über-JamesBond gun to finish off the package I'd use a Walther P22 with a Gemtech Vortex-2 suppressor for point blank range work.

Dude, I rely on my budget shortcomings to help make my decisions! Otherwise I would buy anything and everything on this page![:D]

However, using what is legal as a guide, I would get a registered FA AR-15/M16 lower and buy one each M16A4, M4A1, and Model 733(or equivilant) upper

And one fitted guitar case[:p]
