Humans still like being gophers in war zones. What sort of accoutrements would you pick for tunnel rat activities in the present day?

Since neither the Geneva nor Hague conventions apply to ISIS/ISIL/Daesh, Al-Qaida, terrorists in general etc...
Phosgene. Mustard Gas VX Chlorine Sarin Hydrogen Cyanide ETC and so on. |

A micro drone, a remote robot, and a relay/control station at the tunnel entrance. Micro drone scouts ahead for the robot. Robot is equipped with anti personnel weaponry and image processing for the drone. Both are linked in real time, via the basestation, with an overhead drone equipped with ground penetrating munitions.
I'll press the fire button ETA Bonus points if the engineer designs the robot as the launch pad for multiple drones |

How about taking a lesson from ww2 and using flame throwers again.

I like the idea of a gasoline tanker truck and a road flare or a concrete transit mix truck. There are some cool pic from WWII in the pacific where they had tanker trucks dumping gasoline down the holes and then torching them off.

Hello, I'm C3PO, human-cyborg relations! And this is my counterpart, C-4. |

Just infect the sheep and goats in their AOs with syphillis, and take out hadjis when they come in to the clinic for the cure.

Wait are we saying we should go in tunnels or people are in tunnels and we want to deal with them?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are good in tunnels. |

X95 loaded with MK318, suppressor, red dot and NV. Glock 19 sidearm.
Of course, I'd rather flood the tunnels with liquefied pigshit and light it on fire. Where is your Allah now, bitch? |

View Quote Lots of propane and some matches. |

You couldn't pay me enough to go in there. Blow up the entrances, burn closest village. Rise repeat.

ETA: You forgot Tabun, if we really want to throw the book at 'em Didn't the Viet cong start using some sort of water trap in tunnels to deal with gas attack? Yup. But I don't know how easy those are to make over in the middle east. Furthermore, I believe that the correct chemical agent will contaminate the water trap, and thus anyone who comes through it. A persistent agent will linger on the walls of the tunnels for a long ass time, so even if the water in the water trap doesn't contaminate someone, if they come out they'll get a dose. You can follow up the the Phosgene,Chlorine,VX,Sarin,Tabun,Soman (GD's official nerve agent. I lolled but I realize nobody here is going to get that unless they're in the chemical corps.) and mustard gas combo with a healthy dose of Mk84 to collapse the tunnels for all I care. All I care about is killing as many of the enemy as possible while taking as few friendly casualties as possible. |

First, a NE rocket from a mk153 SMAW. Then a battle buddy, both with M4s, NODS and PEQ 16s.
......one of the scariest things I have ever done (with out rocket). |

Glock 18 with Streamlight , Serbu Super shorty , Thermal imaging .,

Thermal area. Recon at night thermal/nod find entry ..exits.
Have snipers whack a mole. If cost is an issue. Burn them out or gas them. If not thermobaric that fucker ..suck their lungs out. |

A gas powered Mighty Mite blower and a few bags of powdered CS would help

Call in Tony 'Baldrick' Robinson and Time Team to do a 'geophys' survey.
Then go around boring holes in all the right places to drop grenades down into. |

last time i searched tunnels in AFG it was with a couple GBU-24s.
it seemed to work |
