I recently got a used VHS Mobile Vision 7 pro system.
Took it out of one squad, installed into mine. very nice system. a lot better on screen options. Lat/Lon, speed, cam has some sort of night vision.
My issue is that the remote mic will not sync up with the unit..  the ant icon flashes.  the battery is charged up, battery icon is steady on.
the lights come on in the docking station. it "acts like" it's sync'ing. the sync light comes on, then off.  power light is on and is green, fully charged.  It has been on yellow a few times, then goes to green.

When the cam is running, there is no indication of any mic , it should say M1 on screen.

I have the unit set to M1, which the manual says is right because I do not have a second remote mic connected. the book says the back seat mic auto turns on with the M1 setting.  the other option is M2+M3 for dual remote mic's.

I have cleaned the connections with elec cleaner on the docking station. double checked the phone type cord that runs to the vault, no stresses or pinches.   Could that cord be broken somewhere? and if so, it looks like a computer CAT cable. I'm thinking of buying a CAT cable that looks like the OEM and see if that works/fixes the problem.
I have another older system, same brand and tried that remote mic. that don't sync either.

I've went though all the on screen programming, and couldn't see any other settings..

The cam was out of the other squad for a couple weeks.. could it of lost it's programming to mic??

thanks for help..

They can't lose the programming, as most times for those kinds of mics there are specific frequencies.  It sounds to me like you've got the wrong mic.  What you'll need to start with is check the camera system for a label that has 1 or 2 mic frequencies, then check your mic for the same label.  If the frequencies are different, voila, there's your answer.  Also, your camera system (recorder area) might have a frequency select switch.  Make sure this lines up with your external mic too.

Let me know if either of these fixes your issue.

I've been an installer at my Sheriff's Office for the past 10 years after getting tired of seeing our equipment being being installed incorrectly by idiot inmate trustees...and we had Mobile Vision systems up until about 3 years ago....so I know a little about these systems.
The black communications cable you refer to is extremely fragile, and the little wires inside it will break easily, even if the outside of the cable looks undamaged.  The problem you describe with the mic refusing to sync is a common problem that is usually caused by a damaged comm cable.  We used to be able to get replacement cables from Mobile Vision, but I dont know if they still sell them.  They told us that the cable was NOT like a standard phone cable / computer cable.

Let me know if you are unable to find a replacement cable...I may have access to one
