Not that I give a shit if a convicted murderer suffers during his execution but I'd imagine a .30 cal projectile to the base of the dome would be about as painless as you could go.

I believe they give the criminal the choice anyway, so I don't see why this isn't the case in all 50 states.

Have a whole bunch of options, let the prisoner decide.

Nitrogen asphyxiation is painless, cheap and easy to clean up.

Yeap, take them up in plane, shut off the air to the cabin, goodbye.

Nitrogen gas and organ harvesting should be simple enough.

Electrocute them in a gas chamber in front of a firing squad...that would be the winninigest pay-per-view!

That seems rather expensive. Cheaper to open a bottle in a small room.

I would rather face a firing squad than Gas or hanging.

Nitrogen gas is absolutely painless. You pass out and never realize your short on oxygen.  That's why so many people have been killed in accidents by it.

Easier, just hand them over to the families of the loved ones they killed and let the do them in however they choose.

I don't cotton to the death penalty, but I like even less the bizarre obsession the government has with making it look like a medical procedure or an unstoppable mechanical effect - killing people should look like fucking killing people. Firing squads are immediate, inexpensive, and honest.

There'd be no more horseshit about mechanical failures, or "weh nobody will sell us poison", or "we are somehow too fucking incompetent to shoot half a gallon of poison into someone's veins without fucking it up over and over", or "the seals broke" or what the fuck ever.

My father at one point in his career as an Army officer was the commandant of death row/maximum security at Ft Leavenworth...

Back in the day, executions in the military where quick, often withing even days of the trail.
He said hanging was by far the best back then because the firing squad didn't always work the first time (he said people often "missed" on purpose), and early electrocution often didn't work either or over-voltage resulted in human fires and explosions...

Hanging was pretty much always effective the first time and produced the least mess

I'm OK with this, and echo the calls for Nitrogen (or other similar) gas asphyxiation.

Besides the old stand bys of hanging, yellow mama, and firing squads why not the guillotine or garroting?

Be hard to beat a good hanging.

Why not a firing "squad" of a suitable number of  ransom rests with the points of aim and triggers confirmed in advance?
