My girlfriend is going to central america as a missionary for 10mo to teach english in an orphanage. She needs to get some travelers insurance, but we have no idea who is a reputable company. Several of the people at work have gone on mission trips and had missionary insurance but could not remember the company they used.

Does anyone here know of a good insurance company for mission trips.

Have you personally used them? I found a bunch with google but wanted a personal reference before buying.

Didnt know they offered missionary insurance.  I would just take out a life insurance policy and call it good to go.  But thats just me...

I've bought from them twice. I haven't actually 'used' it.

Last place I was at, health care was ridiculously cheap. A girl got sick, wen to the hosptial, had a nurse wait on her hand and foot, spent a long time with the doctor, got some medicine, and she was out $35.

I buy when the agency involved requires it. In the future, I will probably do as you suggest. I've thought it through from several angles, and agree with your thinking.
