Last night I stopped at a local gunshop with a friend. It is owned by an LEO. I noticed he had a couple of AR-15's, which is something he has never stocked before. I noticed he had a pre-ban and asked to see it. It was a Bushmaster in pretty good shape with a decent price. It definitely had a flash suppressor (not muzzlebrake) and a bayonet lug. I memorized the serial number and checked it out when I got home. If I am reading the serial number listings right, it is a post-ban lower with a pre-ban upper on it. I e-mailed the gentlman and told him he had better check it out, but have not heard a response yet. The serial number was L1247XX. This is a post-ban lower, is it not? If it is, it just goes to show that even LEO's don't fully comprehend the '94 AW Ban. Here is the serial number listing I got:

Bushmaster
Below L051000 - Assembled Pre-Ban Rifles and some pre-94 lowers.
L051001-L063000 - Mixed Pre-Ban Assembled Rifles and Pre-Sept 94 Lowers
L063001 and Up - Post-Ban.

And this surprises you? I'm retired now but I never did understand the b/s gibberish of the whole ban. It may be because I never tried to. Asinine laws are not enforceable and that one is perhaps the most asinine to be placed on the books.
My attitude was, "So you got a black rifle huh? Breakin' any laws there today sport? No? Well, good shootin'."
If the idiots that passed that one want it enforced let them go out and make the arrest while the officers are doing police work. But then I was told on more than one occasion that I had an attitude problem.[;D]
