Quite a bit actually.  If it’s always guns out then there are huge problems there.   If the response becomes knocking on the door and making sure things are ok then it shows the response is adopting to the situation.  If it’s a case of the former then the lawsuit should have been more.

In my younger days, I spent quite a bit of time in Milwaukee.

Milwaukeans are dumb fucks, for the most part.

Since cops in urban areas tend to be of lower than average intelligence (let's face it, that's what those cities are looking for), that means they are extra retarded.

And fat, too.

Mumford Law on it:

What is swatting, and who pays when police raid the wrong house? A Milwaukee couple was swatted dozens of times. Officers kept coming with rifles and shields, even after one said the call was probably fake. A federal judge found officers violated their Fourth Amendment rights on five separate dates. Not one officer will pay a dime.

I break down the case law. Qualified immunity protected every officer because no appeals court had said how many fake 911 calls it takes before police have to stop believing the next one. But under Monell, the claims against the City of Milwaukee survived, and the city settled for $575,000.

Then Wichita, Kansas, the most famous swatting gone wrong. Andrew Finch was swatted once, opened his front door, and was shot by police. In Finch v. Rapp the Tenth Circuit denied the officer qualified immunity. Same kind of fake call, opposite result. Plus: is swatting illegal, the punishment for swatting, and the FBI's signs of a fake call.

Milwaukee has OT. There used to be a city ordinanace that no city employee could make more than the mayor. Certain Officers and Detectives got letters saying they would have to work less as their OT put them over the mayor's salary.

The second almost unilateral QI goes away, cops are going to switch on the thinking part of their brain because they personally are going to be financially liable. Until then, ''hut, hut, hut'' is the name of the game.

That doesn't mean the PD itself doesn't have equal liability, they are still the ones hiring retards to pin a badge onto.

I'm sure there's OT. Law enforcement in general has a lot of OT because we cant just pack up and clear from a call just because we reach the end of our normal shift. But there's  nothing in the story that addresses how many of these calls were handled by people working beyond their normal scheduled shift.
The conspiracy theories in this thread about "the officers must have something against the family" or "its about OT" are ridiculous

No, because there's too much liability that way
The command staff was aware of the problem

Can't speak to MPD, but back in early '19 the same person in the 6th District in New Orleans got swatted* twice in one day, then an attempt on the following day...but on day 2 just a sergeant responded, all was well, and we arranged for the guy's number to be posted up at the front desk.  Every time after that the call would be held until the desk officer or the shift supervisor called the guy, who was always fine, so the call was handled as the appropriate false report type.  We never did ID the perp, but he or she stopped after a week or so.  Presumably the person was able to see the victim's house and realized we weren't playing along and got bored.

*Same type of call, but S.O.D. (NOPD'S SWAT unit) never actually responded.

Came here to say that if these people have had multiple guns pointed at them 55 times, that's literally hundreds of guns pointed at them without getting shot.
Which illustrates just how big of a murdering POS Justin Rapp was when he murdered Andrew Finch for answering his door, unarmed, during a 'possible SWATting call'.
And how disgusting it is that the only person convicted of a crime is the asshat who made the call.

In the story you linked, it was more like the Atatiana Jefferson killing in Ft Worth. Jefferson and Menendez both reached for a lawfully possessed sidearm in their own bedrooms, Jefferson in response to a prowler at her bedroom window in a fenced yard, in a state where you can lawfully shoot people (like Aaron Dean) for criminal mischief under cover of darkness.
In Menendez' case, he grabbed a gun after they broke his window to enter his bedroom! Hole-E-Shit! Because they got a call???

Damn, that was hard to read.   Unbelievable.
Proudly posting without reading the article since 1999.

‘People have died this way’: Milwaukee couple swatted 55 times calls for policy change after $575K settlement
"We begged them to stop. We went so many times. We emailed everybody. We talked to sergeants and lieutenants and everything, and nothing changed," Robinson said.

Despite that awareness, officers continued to respond, at times with a full tactical presence. Body camera video shows one officer pointed a gun at the couple's door on their fourth response in a single day.

I can't believe this isn't a dupe but I can't find it.

These cops have to be retarded.

Until the swatters do an active investigation for the source of the calls, my money is on a disgruntled group of officers using a burner phone. I love the what if game.

After watching that the settlement should have been more and some of the officers should have been suspended/fired/charged (different actions warrant different responses)

They should go to York PA.

Cops don't even respond there.

I think QI needs to go away. It's a judicial invention anyway, and thus even more unconstitutional than on it's face.

They should put doughnuts and coffee on the front porch so when the next call comes the cops are already there.

Also, Milwaukee is the anus of the state in all the ways that count.

Oh no, husband is clearly a dangerous malcontent.   Must use explosive entry for officer safety!

Four times in a day, is one shift  saying high to the next shift swatting.
