They are some beautiful planes for sure, but I can say, at lease in the case of a Mig 15 or 17, the fit and finish on them is awful. The skin panels don't fit together and they're all wavy. Looks like a drunk with a hammer and anvil shapes them by hand....and he's in a hurry. |

In before comrade Primorsky.
I'm not old enough to remember the aura of mysticism around the Mig 25, but I remember the aura around the Mig 29 in the 1980s. We were scared they would build an insane number of them (like they did with the 21s) and overwhelm our F18s and F16s with sheer numbers. Personally I think our F15s would have handled the situation just fine, but at the time we were worried for sure. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

No, really, tell us how you feel about Migs.....

You sure that isn't a Su-27 or a variant? Those "vents" along the cockpit do look very MiG-29 like BUT..... the -29's vertical stabilizers tilt outward a slight degree and those in the pic are essentially straight up. Further, the -29 has strakes from the stabilizer moving far forward into the wing and that bottom aircraft does not appear to have such. http://www.aerospaceweb.org/aircraft/fighter/mig29/mig29_schem_01.gif http://www.freewebs.com/kkenterprisesinc/Mig-29%203.jpg and the Su-27 in comparison: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/images/su-27-vs-mig-29.gif It may just be the angle of the shot....but those verticals do catch the eye. __________________________________________ ("Hall, you sure that isn't coronary?"––Dr. Stone, (w,stte), "The Andromeda Strain") Also look at where the IRSTS is, the Fulcrum has it off to right side of the cockpit, whereas the Flankers have it smack dab in the middle. |
