So, my Ultratech started failing to lock open when I fired it. After reading all of the negative reviews of Microtech's warranty service I had some reservations about sending it back. But, what choice did I have?
I got on their website and followed the instructions for getting a return authorization. Boxed it up with the I.D., problem description, and a $15 check for the return shipping. UPS'd it on a Wednesday. Get a phone call on the following Monday morning from the warranty guy; knife is fixed, sent to be cleaned and sharpened, and should be invoiced out by the end of the week. A bur on the lug was preventing it from locking open. Bur was filed off and the spring was replaced. Three weeks pass and no Ultratech. So I call the guy and he says there was a holiday (Easter) and the invoice person had been out causing them to get backed up. Two more weeks pass and after a phone call to the company from my distributor I get an email sayin the knife is on the way. I still don't know what the problem was between the repair completed in four days and the five weeks before it came back, but I got it yesterday. It works perfectly, was cleaned and lubed, and razor sharp. It feels a lot stronger when it fires and retracts so I am convinced of the spring replacement. I have no indications of where the bur in question came from, but I guess if it is mechanical then stuff will happen. I've got my knife back; it's better than ever. Whatever was causing all of the negative reviews is apparently being addressed. Microtech makes great stuff. Expensive, but worth it (to me, anyway). |

I called the cops on my neighbors for a noise complaint and they did a no knock raid on my house. All in all, it was a positive experience because the cops did come by instead of just ignoring me. They evacuated the neighbors before they kneed on my neck so they had to break up the party and get the neighbors to quiet down. A+++ would call again. |

Company sucks ass, goes way past the delivery date....But they are still awesome. Wtf bro. They have a lot of negative reviews because they are constantly fucking people over, and their knives aren't all that fucking great. |
