$800 bucks and up. ![]() Any practical use other than stabbing someone? Why would someone carry this over a standard fixed blade. Seems like this thing takes up too much weight and space to be only used for one thing. ETA: Family member was at a gun show in MA. This seemed to be the new hot item. |

It looks like the kind of garbage you would see on a table at a flea market, right next to the velvet paintings if dragons.
I am sure it is fine German steel, and has amazing properties, but it still looks like something that would cost $25 and be stamped "Made in Pakistan". |
I bought a $300 microtech OTF a while back. I'm not really a knife person, but (like that damn tomahawk thread) I saw it, the mood struck me, and I had to have it. It's a really great knife and has held up very well even though I don't carry it due to VA's switchblade laws (even without carrying them I'm still very hard on knives for some reason). Even if I could carry it though I'm not sure I would. The risk of losing such an expensive knife means I end up carrying a kershaw that will do 95% of what the microtech will (and is actually easier to open with wet hands), especailly when you factor in the risk of encountering LE that wants to be a dick about it not being technically legal to carry. As it stands its a 300 box opener/nail file. I've certainly made better choices with my discrestionry funds. |

I have seen similarly designed sheath setups like that on deep sea diving knives but I doubt that is microtechs intent.
Oh yeah, screw you microtech, at one time (I have heard they are slightly less douchy nowadays) they won't fix fire or EMT owned auto knives 90% of the time, threatening to call the cops on you for asking for warranty work and if they do decide to help you out of the kindness of their hearts you could expect 4 to 8 months, not weeks, months wait for service or you could have a cop friend send it in and get it back in 13 days.

I saw one in person the other day at Mark's Outdoors in Birmingham.
It looked so FUCKING stupid that I thought it was manufactured by one of the "Fantasy" knife companies. I discounted it as an object of desire (unless you like visiting a proctologist) immediately.... On a side note, I did buy my first Balisong, a Benchmade 51 Morpho. Very nice.. not super functional, but I have always wanted one and I have plenty of regular folders. |

The blade has a very specific function; to punch through light barriers/bone/Kevlar, create deep punctures and cause rapid bleed out but not get trapped in the body by suction. Just like a spike bayonet.
They're well made, but I wouldn't pay $800. Admittedly I was tempted a few months ago. |
