| My dog had a micro chip placed in her before my girlfriend adopted her. We are getting ready to move to a new address, what database do I need to update to include the new info? I am not exactly sure what info is on the chip now. Does it have a number they would look up online that would need the info updated or is the actual info on the chip it self? |

You have to know what kind (brand) of chip it is. Then go to that company's website and they will have a link where you can update the information. You will have to provide some sort of proof you are the proper owner. If you have lost all of the original paperwork then you will have to go to a vet or rescue place to get the chip read to figure out what kind of chip it is. |

Where was she adopted from? A shelter? If so, call that shelter and ask.
We received an info packet when we adopted our dude and I have updated the info any time we move. There are several companies that to microchips and as mentioned it is just a matter of updating the info with the correct company. Ours is 24PetWatch. BTW, this is timely, my wife and I returned a dog to his owner this weekend only because he had a microchip from the shelter. Dumb bitch wouldn't buy a $6 tag for her dog, but the free microchip got him back home. I then went and bought tags and collars for her dogs and put them in her mailbox. |
