Metallic is dead to me
I will not acknowledge anything after their Black Album |
they have had very few note worthy songs since the black album came out I probably won't buy this one
+1 In the late 80s/early 90s I lived to see and hear Metallica. I went to several shows and listened to them almost non-stop. Now hearing their new stuff is like seeing the hot girl from high school that is now a fat pig with 5 kids. Metallica needs to stop beating that dead horse. |
The new album is at least TRYING to be old school metallica sound, but iunno old metallica is the better metallica...Theyre going to be playing near here in november I want to see them just to save IVe seen them.
what they need to do is kick lars and bring back Dave Mustaine because that was the big mistake they made they booted the wrong person
can i post a link to download the whole album ? or would be violating COC ?
i have already listened to it... and its pretty good. |
I M M E |

You sound like a couple of my friends... "Hey are you getting the new Killswitch album?" "Dude, I downloaded it like two weeks ago. It's great!" |
"The Day That Never Comes" has been getting airplay around town lately.
I had high hopes for this album, but I hope TDTNC isn't a good sample of the rest of the album. Because that song sucks. It sounds like 3 or 4 different songs mashed together. |
all nightmare long i think this is the best song off the album... my opinion. |
yeah, I got it the other night as well....torrent...cough cough |
I'm not even half way through and this absolutley rocks! |

Nice! James' vocals sort of suck but the music is great. |
I'd take an IM'ed link as well please! |
Metallica is like the stripper with stretch marks. In her day she was good, but now its time to move on. |
Gonna have to agree. Theres some decent stuff on this album. |
Time to listen to the album. |
Their new stuff is full of fail, and this is no exception. Lars is a little bitch, too.
I must be a rare breed of metallica fan because I like everything from Kill em All to S&M. I even liked that last one they put out a few years ago, but i never listen to it. It got real old and annoying fast.
I just listened to My Apocalypse, who the Hell mixed this album?
The levels all sound really off with the guitar in the background, the vocals up front, the bass inaudible (they have Murderface playing for them?), the drums are all off too with the cymbals too quiet in relation to the snare. Otherwise it's a fairly uninspiring song. |
Metallica can do whatever the fuck the want. Kinda like what Gods would do.
"All Nightmare Long" is awesome. |
Mixing is shitty on everything. Listen to All Nightmare Long. ETA: I don't like My Apocalypse either. Pretty terrible track, that. |
this is why I'm glad I'm not a musician, I can enjoy the music without worrying who mixed a track or how loud/quiet a certain instrument is or isn't.
I am really enjoying this album. "My Apocalypse" and "All Nightmare Long" are my two favorite right now... |
That (probably) just means you either have poor hearing or poor equipment. Certain things are like nails on a chalkboard to me... other things, like recording levels too high on mastering, will make music unlistenable. The majority doesn't notice this. That's why they get away with it. Actually it is on purpose, they crank the levels so that it sounds loud as possible on a $30 boombox, an ipod, or in a factory car stereo. None of which does any justice to properly recorded music in the first place. |

Type in Metallica and a new song name in youtube most of them are up or at least they were last night. |
Justice for All and Master of Puppets will go to the grave with me. I consider AJFA to be the best album I will ever own, and I have had it since it came out.
IMHO Metallica started teh sux when Hetfield began thinking he had a great singing voice. Bleh. |
Whatever do you meeEeEeanahhhhhhh |
Meh. Put me solidly in the Pre-Black camp. Day that Never Comes sucks, it sounds like some emo band. What's with James' high-pitched voice now? He used to have that signature growl. At least in Nightmare, the guitars are starting to get the old Thrash speed going...but the funky drum sound, lack of bass, and his new whiny voice just ruin it.
I really like it...
Everyone is complaining about the mixing, some have said to run it through post editing and you can get it sounding much better. But STILL , it's a great album ,atleast what i've heard. Atleast 5 times better than their stupid last album. |
The black album sucked. I won't acknowledge anything after Justice. In fact, Justice only has one good song, One.
Lightning and Master was Metallica at their prime. Metallica after Cliff just isn't the same. |
Well I listened to "My Apocalypse" and "Cyanide"...
Both are full of fail and suckage....as I expected. |
That's it...no Dec COTM pick for you |
Suggesting the end consumer edit the entire album to their liking just so that it sounds decent is a poor suggestion at best and absurd at worst. Multiplying 5, or any number, by 0 still makes 0 . Almost anything is better than St. Anger Edit: Changed "user" to "consumer," because apparently I'm still thinking like in the Chrome thread. |

Haven't seen a track list yet but heard there's a third Unforgiven song. If it's there, any good?
Sounds better than I thought it would...now lets see if it's as decent as the preview sounds.
fucking St. Anger still pisses me off |
Talk about suck. This is what happens when you intellectualize art. It no longer has anything to do with creation or self expression. |
