I need a 32gb memory card to run in my Go Pro HD Hero camera for an upcoming white water rafting trip.  I saw some high speed sandisk ones at BestBuy but they wanted $100 for them.

Does this price sound right?
Do I need a 'high speed card' to shoot 1080p at 30fps?

I use a class 6 SD card. I think it's a class 6.

Seems to work just fine for 1080p on several different cameras.

The price sounds about right. But I can't give any insight on using them in a video camera. But with my experience with fast action photography fast cards are like gold. I have three class 10 cards.

Have fun on your rafting trip!

I hate to say it, but I would go with a class 10 card.   I have an HD Hero and I use a class 10 32GB card in it.

You might try looking for your cards at "microcenter" online.  They usually have some better prices.

I have the class 10 PNY 32GB card.   The lower class cards make the video choppy.  (I know they say you can use a class 4)

just my $.02.  Good luck

Best Buy sells at ridiculously high retail prices. Check out Newegg.com.

There are 32GB SDHC Class 10 flash memory cards available for $38.99.

I use a 32gb Kingston for my GoProHD and a 16gb ScanDisk both class 4 and I shoot 1080p for motorsports and snorkeling and they read and write flawlessly.

A point that I forgot to mention in my range report post is that, I too, went and bought one of the newly discounted class 10 32gig cards.

It arrived on Fri for  Mon shoot.

The Canon HF S100 did not see it as a high speed card and it held back the higher resolution settings because of that.

I bought a 32 gig class 6 card and it reads fine for the highest resolution.
