I've been posting here for a bit now and have not become very bored. I'm thinking the next step might be to become a paying "Team Member" so I can post more assinine stuff without the sense of guilt.

What are the pros and cons of becoming a member? I have read them and have a few of my own thoughts, but what are your thoughts?

DA

(yeah, I know, I get to put a cool GIF pic under my name!)

Nice way to directly support the gun community.

Feels good knowing that you're making a financial contribution to the running of this board.

It's fun.  I figure I've gotten WAY more than $60 worth of entertainment from the site.

And the obvious: team members only forum, avatar, ability to host pics, a cool email address... etc.

Cons??? You are further committed to a way of life which leaves you with even less any extra cash because you spend it all on a firearm related lifestyle. (is that REALLY a con?)

Pros??? You are further committed to a way of life which leaves you without any extra cash because you spend it all on firearm related items. (actually too many pros to list)

A couple for posterity sake....

financial support for the infrastructure cost requirements to host this site and the bandwidth

cool icon thingy by your name

ar15.com email addy

the implicit gratitude of the rest of the Team Members who have come before you

But for as long as you have been here, you already know all this. What the hell are you waiting for? It's only $60 bucks.
$5 a month. Less than $.16 a day. Do you derive sixteen cents a day worth of enjoyment from here???

Top 10 Reasons to become a Paying Member

10) You get access to a GIF image under your name.
Should you become a member, but later on decide you don't want to pay, your image is changed to a Canadian flag, to represent your lameness.

9) 32% of all proceeds from AR15.com memberships go to support Child Labor and Big Tobacco.

8) Access to the top-secret AR15.com

7) AR15.com is a good place to learn to speak Spanish. It has been proven that paying members learn to Speak Spanish 12% faster than non-paying members. Should you already speak Spanish, you can apply this phenominon to learning various Slavic dialects.

6) The AR15.com "Goodbye" commitee.
All paying members get to vote one member off per month. This is done in secret.
Upon completion, the members post is sabatoged by a Staff member, and the member summarily banned.
To all onlookers, it looks like a legitimate banning, when in reality, the poor voted-off member was framed. By paying for a membership, you can help frame your fellow users.

5) Jews

4) All paying members get a 15% discount with Hertz Rent-A-Cars.

3) An AR15.com membership is considered sponsorship in Freemasonry. Should you ever decide you want to become a Mason, you can use your AR15.com membership to get in.

Hhmm, if we use McUzi's mentality to judge why he isn't a member perhaps we can stereotype that he's Jewish.

Everything written in the above post was sarcastic. It was meant to make fun of what you just said, just in case you can't tell. [:)]

I never use any of the member stuff exept the pic under my name and the occasional post in the member forum.  I joined just because over the past three years I have received way more than 60 bucks worth of use and enjoyment out of this site.

Before I get flamed lets explain somethings -

My above comment is truly a joke and is clearly sarcasm.  All of you should know that I despise stereotyping
& hatred that is in the form of grouping people solely by race, religion, ethnicity, gender, etc.

My comments are reply to McUzi's 'sarcasm' about becoming a member of this site.  Most of you know how he feels about certain things and for those of you that don't consider yourself lucky.

My outlook is that I judge people by their actions and what I personally know about them.

Take care guys!

This helps encourage the opposing viewpoints of firearms owners across the globe as 1 in 4 that get voted off either start their own firearms web site or become moderators in 'more open environments'.  More web sites means more readers.

We take great pride in voting off only those we believe have the will and drive to do this.

We consider voting off outspoken posters our contribution to the firearms community.

But I thought that was a secret.

The next member vote off is coming up at the end of this month so all of those who want to get in on the action you need to join now.  Anybody want a hint as to who's on the ballot?

Also, the membership votes are final even Goatboy can't override it and let 'em back in.
