Mexican authorities have confirmed that 20 people were killed when a group of gunmen stormed a cockfight, in a small town in the western state of Michoacn.

Officials and witnesses described a choreographed massacre in which assailants in military uniforms arrived just after 10.30pm on Sunday night and opened fire with assault rifles at the crowds of primarily middle-aged men.

Two small trucks, one of them branded with the logo for Sabritas, a potato chip company, were used to block the highway leading to the cockfighting arena.

Mexican police told local media they found 19 bodies 16 men and three women. Another victim died en route to the hospital. More than 100 shells from 7.62 caliber rifles littered the ground.

That's right outside of Apatzingan, so this isn't necessarily surprising. If you listen to the song "Traficantes Michoacanos", this is exactly the area they're singing about. That whole area (Apatzingan/Nueva Italia) exists only because of the drug trade, and it's all cartel land. In that neck of the woods, 20 killed in one day isn't the norm, but it's not unheard of, either. In Nueva Italia, there's generally at least one or two people killed every day.

Hear me out on this:

If we could end the drug war in the US, the cartels would be crippled, and I'm pretty sure that between the crippled and purpose-less cartels and the weak, corrupt Mexican central government, we could move there, establish a new country, bring our guns, build a new civilization, have GREAT deer and duck hunting, great fishing, and easy access to trade through Texas and NM.

Instead of sitting here complaining about illegal immigrants from the south, we move south. Nobody would ever expect it.
