I'm not a military guy, so what does that mean, and why should I care? Av.

Stop-Loss - You thought you were getting out but YOUR NOT. Better known as "involuntary enlistment extensions"
Link Posted: 1/10/2003 5:47:30 AM EST
Two things, 1. Do you have a link or some place to look for verification? 2. Does anyone know how this affects people who are getting out on medical reasons if they are still able to work a desk job? Chris

It means that people who are no longer obligated to serve are being forced to serve involuntarily, so we can drive our SUV's.

[rolleyes] I take it you know nothing about the military?

The stop loss goes into effect the 15th, if you are not retiring by April or being involuntarily separated you are in for another year. It covers both reserves and active Marines.

Actually that is BS, when you sign your contract it is for longer than the active portion, normally 8 years. Additionally the contract states that the president, or officials that he gives the authority to, can extend you beyond that term. Normally it is the duration of the action plus 6 months.

So whats the problem? I was extended past my enlistment when I went to the gulf in 91. If your country needs you it needs you. it shouldn't be a issue. It sucks to be separated from family and loved ones but thats life..

Well, them's the breaks. The guy who wrote that message should have his pee-pee slapped, however. His NARR line refers to references that are not included in REF lines. Sorry. I was once a Navigator/Admin Officer. Now I work in QA. Old habits die hard.

So, have you and Martin Sheen and Barbara Streisand discussed booking a show together to talk about how you all agree politically?
