[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Mapping software..

Tried looking but didn't find anything I thought had what I need..

I'm looking for some mapping software that will let me draw a line and get the long-lat and distances and such from the line..
Need it for figuring out some stuff in CA..

A good free program would be fGIS along with USAphotomaps and big jpeg.

Anything else is going to cost in the neighborhood of $1k

ARCview and CMT's all work well. It is what I use.

What about "Topo!". It allows you to do that. I think National Geographic Trip Planner may, as well.

MS Map Point North America. Also interfaces with GPS.
