Man dies after being shot in eye More Buckeye/Phoenix Local News 01:00 PM Mountain Standard Time on Monday, July 21, 2008 By 3TV 3TV BUCKEYE -- A man is dead after he reportedly was shot in the face while target shooting. Buckeye police officers are on the scene near Canyon Springs Road and Sun Valley Parkway. Initial reports are that a family was target shooting and the 40-year-old man was accidentally shot. Emergency crews got to the scene quickly, but the man died from her injuries. 3TV has a crew on the way to the scene and details will be updated as they become available. (It says man died from "her" injuries, so I'm not sure what sex this person was.) |

Too close to the backstop, a case of "hey, hold my beer and watch this", intentional killing being masked as an "accident" or one hell of a case of scope eye. |
Hrrrrrmmmm ......maybe he died from fright of seeing her head blown off. |
Yeah, threw me off too. |
Of course, there is always the possibility that they aren't sure. She/He/It may have been hit with extreme shock ammo. Might not be enough left to identify. rr |
They were really bad injuries? |
I'm thinking a woman shot a man. Modern day journalism ain't like what it used to be.
Looking down the barrel to see if a round was chambered when a lazy primer didn't ignite right away?

"Bobby, will you look and see if there are bullets in this gun."
What were those four rules again?
Standing by for the details to come out. Did anybody say "Don't worry, it's not loaded?" |
I am crying right now. |

Local TV news says it was a woman, self-inflicted gunshot. No details yet on why/how the gun was pointing at her eye.
The desert by the White Tank Mountains is a popular place to go shooting. Been there many times. www.kpho.com/video/16947865/index.html?rss=pho&psp=video |

Damn.
Woman looked down the barrel and somehow pulled the trigger. Nobody else to blame here...she should have known better. |
And it was a Glock. Why the FUCK would you EVER look down the fucking barrel and pull the trigger? She was from California though.. rr |
This one's right up there with the guy who look down the barrel of a jammed minigun last year and blew off his head....
Video? |
Apparently you can't rotate the barrels while thing is still loaded and without a lockout pin inserted tho. For all practical purposes he 'pulled the trigger'. |
Glock handgun + untrained beginner = accident trying to happen. I don't know where/how people got the idea that new shooters should buy Glocks, because "all you have to do is pull (sic) the trigger." Looking down the barrel of a pistol is completely stupid. But gun manufacturers and sellers must be aware that there are more than a few completely stupid people out there. Would you recommend a 1911 for a new shooter who is not going to get any training or instruction or read the manual? Me neither. How about a 1911 with the thumb safety removed? Because that's what a Glock is -- a 1911 without a thumb safety. Gun manufacturers and gun store sellers should be pushing DA-only revolvers and DA-only autos (with thumb safeties) to newbies, not Glocks because "that's what the cops carry." |
That right there is some funny shit. Some chick looks down the barrel of a loaded gun and pops one in her eye, and you blame a Glock? LOL! A glock is just as safe as any other pistol. If you really put your faith in manual safeties for new shooters, you haven't been around a new shooter for a LONNNNNNG time. rr |
That is absolutely retarded. What are we supposed to do? Start training newbies that they should rely on mechanical safeties? Duh. The safest gun out there is the one in the hands of the person who follows the 4 basic rules of firearms. You know, those pesky rules that ought to be taught BEFORE handing someone anything larger than a ssquirt gun? |
Then it becomes a scavenger hunt. |
Dumbest. Post. Ever. |
Then hey......free eyeball. And two pages and no one has said it yet? C'mon guys............. Bullseye |
From what I understand it depends on the model, but several versions fire with the rotation, not by a separate "firing" system... meaning if the barrels are loaded and they turn, whether by hand or by motor, they'll fire. Source
