| I joined a local range and he last time I was there there were no target stands, I would like to build some that I can bring with me and use. I am thinking it would need to be pretty strong for ar use at 100 and 200 yards, and for pistol at 25 and 50 yards.Have any of you built some , what do you have. I do not know how to weld so that is out. |

Check my post here, about 1/3 way down. It all fits in a big cheapo gym bag I picked up at Walmart. Other good ideas in there too.

About as easy to make as it gets. Light and pretty portable. http://i750.photobucket.com/albums/xx149/sconnieVLP/null_zpsdd07a87c.jpg Mine are similar. Filled with sand for weight |

Hey, OP, this wouldn't happen to be the town and country gun club in Maryville, IL? Here is my design: http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/gryphon1994/842CDDAE-DEA3-4573-80EF-E2326E8D99A4-246-000001A8C5D48E20_zps3469c7bf.jpg All steel. Powder coated. There are two different pivot points so that they can fit the 18 inch wide IDPA targets and the 24 inch wide B-27 targets that our new CCW students are supposed to use. http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/gryphon1994/3BFD1752-ECE8-4D38-A82C-1DA7D0DB45EB-246-000001712874C5F8_zps16730715.jpg They fold up or swing closed so they take up very little room. I was USPSA match director a few years ago and dealing with traditional H style stands was a mess, especially when they don't nest together. It really jumblefucked our trailer of props, walls, and poppers. That's one of the best portable paper target stands I've ever seen. To the OP you need to ask why the gun club doesn't have target stands on the range. If you are paying for a membership they should be providing the basics. From a club management position if we are providing the stands we can set target heights to ensure that the rounds are going into the back stop. Sound really basic but I have seen some really stupid things out on the range including sending all the rounds over the back stop. |

No it is in ASC inWaterman IL , and they do have them but most are destroyed and I plan on repairing some of them when the mini ponds dry up, all the target stands are in about 1-2 feet of mud or 1-3 feet of water. |

| This simple H shaped base is what I use: http://www.firearmstactical.com/briefs29.htm |
|
I did a writeup on homemade stands with pros/cons a while back. Geared mostly towards hanging steel plates. |
|
I did a variation of the H frame where on the center strut I put a bracket on both sides so the side legs could be slid into place. That way it breaks down into 3 pieces, it also allows for you to leave the legs further out on one side or the other to help keep it upright if it is a real windy day. |

Works great unless it is very windy and very portable. |
