I actually have the leather already.

It has been very difficult to find a leather jacket for motorcycling that I find acceptable.

It has finally come to the point where I would rather make it myself.  I like making stuff anyway (like furniture).

My requirements:
Can be used off the bike, ie: doesn't scream "BIKER JACKET!!!" (key requirement)
Two vertical upper chest vents, zippered
Two vertical lower back vents, zippered
A vertical collar (vs folding collar) perhaps with a small button (or velcro) flap across the adams apple
zipper cuffs, where unzippering them will allow for windflow thru the arms
Armor/padding not necessary
Fastback/Actionback construction.  This is where there is an extra flap of sorts behind the shoulder allowing you to easily cross your arms in front of you, ie: prevents binding at the shoulder. (another key requirement)

So far I figure that I need:
Something that will sew thru two layers of leather (the biggest challenge IMO)
Zippers
Some mesh for the vents (like football jersey material)
Black thread similar to the guts of paracord

any good online links?

thanks,
Dan

Check out Tandy Leather Company.
They sell everything you need including patterns and how-to books.

The only thing they don't sell is an industrial type sewing machine.
You can buy leather needles for sewing machines, but I'm not sure how a standard machine will work in the heavier leather of a jacket.

Say, you like a big girl- are you about a size 13?

It puts the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again!
