Everything in my back bedroom is totally covered.

This is a rental, is there any recourse?  The dresser, clothes, blankets, furniture, all has a layer of mold covering it.  is it worth trying to salvage my stuff?

Run the clothes through the wash. Clean the furniture, then BUY A SMALL A/C UNIT!! Your stuff went moldy because there's too much humidity in the room.

I can just see him walking into a store to buy an A/C unit in Alaska in mid-October.

Contact your local health dept for their advice.  This is likely from a defect in the building.  Bleach does not kill all mold!  You don't want to breath that crap.

True!  Some black molds will destroy your lungs (the spores they produce).  I'd get advice on how to proceed and NOT STIR THINGS UP!  There is great potential for irreversible harm in the situation you describe.

A better bet once everything is cleaned up is a dehumidifier. However, the cause may not be humidity, their could be a roof leak, pipe leak, the mold may be forming inside the walls and growing through. If that is the case, everything will need to be replaced, sheetrock, insulation, studs. I would seriously find a hotel or relative place to stay until it's taken care of.

ETA; Can you post pics?

Be VERY careful! That stuff is dangerous. If your renting get the owner to call a certified mold removal company to quarantine the room and spray with Kilz. It may be due a water leak(pipe, damaged roof?).get rid of the carpet and pretty much everything else. because that stuff is tenacious!

Move.

If that is not an option, clean everything with bleach and buy a dehumidifyer.

+1

plus, Hydrogen Peroxide works as well as bleach and only gives off oxygen and water (H2O2)
