"Pupils at the school have become accustomed to feasting on newly baked bread and an assortment of 15 vegetables at lunchtime, but now the good times are over. The municipality has ordered Eriksson to bring it down a notch since other schools do not receive the same calibre of food - and that is "unfair"." |

Where were the lunch ladies like that back when I was in school?

Where were the lunch ladies like that back when I was in school? All our cooks were great! Of course that was back in the 60s-70s. I never envied the "brown-baggers". They made some of the best corn bread you ever put in your mouth. ![]() Looking back it amazes me that the lunches were very good in every school I went to. No second choices either. You ate what was on the tray. |
|
Seriously? I'd put that lady in charge of training the cooks at the other schools.
|
|
So you get a person that takes enough pride in their job to do that much extra and tell them to quit being too good?
Yeah that sounds like the U.S. too. |

One continuously strives to get better and more efficient. The other strives for the same low standard for everyone, calling it "equality". FBHO |

We had pizza and chocolate milk shakes. And on Fridays, the most awesome fish sandwiches on a bun.
|

The food on offer does not always suit all pupils, she explained, and therefore she makes sure there are plenty of vegetables to choose from as well as proteins in the form of chicken, shrimp, or beef patties.
Shrimp at school??? And it does sound like she needs to be the one teaching the other school lunch staffs how to do their jobs. |
|
So kids these days get great food and plenty of hot teachers to fuck.

Rather than aspiring to pull standards up, liberals strive to keep people at the lowest common denominator, and thus they create universal creeping mediocrity.

God bless you nameless lunch lady who made the awesome oatmeal raisin cookies.
And your cohort who always gave me extra green beans because I actually liked them. |

Yay for centralized planning.
One of my former bosses(I was a dishwasher at a Girl Scout camp) was a lunch lady, and she made mac and cheese that was so good, it was adopted as the recipe for the Hobart, Indiana schools. I don't think she'd be too happy if someone in the Michelle Obama centralized planning bullshit told her to tone her meals down. |

A talented head cook at a school in central Sweden has been told to stop baking fresh bread and to cut back on her wide-ranging veggie buffets because it was unfair that students at other schools didn't have access to the unusually tasty offerings.
You heard it here first folks. We now live in a world where even excelling as a fucking lunch lady is frowned upon. Stay mediocre my friends. |

"They call me Ishmael" was already taken. |

I'm just wondering if the other side of the story is that she's spending 3x the budgeted food expense, and that's what's not 'fair'
but assuming the article is spot on, then WTF indeed |

Skill and dedication such as this should be cultivated and rewarded.
I bet at that school there's a lot of scratch cooking and not much goo in plastic bags. Oh, at my schools in Ft. Riley adn JC, most things were scratch made daily, and they'd slip you a cupcake on your Bday. |
