Cool. I had seen those years ago, but the quality is much better on those.

I must have a bad memory. I don't see how those scenes would've fit in the movie at all. Who the fuck is biggs?

I like the anti-communism speak. We need some movies like that, present day.

That's some cool shit, I for one vote for a super extended cut of the original movie. |

Quoted: I must have a bad memory. I don't see how those scenes would've fit in the movie at all. Who the fuck is biggs? That is why they were cut, as part of the story telling process. In the prequels, Lucas kept the equivalent scenes. that is why they and Lucas suck. |

I really think that the scenes would have added more personality/background to Luke.
Impeach Obama for the Good of the Sand People. |

Red Letter Media- great section in one of the vids about all the terrible shit Lucas wanted in the movie.

the NPR Star Wars radio drama retains all the scenes with Biggs and includes a lot more, although they are a bit different, and better, than the film.
Biggs gets killed in the attack on the Death Star. Luke was his wingman. That scene was not cut from the film, but nobody recognizes it because the earlier scenes are gone. |

If you haven't seen it check out the Adywan version of SW E4. Very good fan fixed, Han shoots first edit of the original SW.

Thanks. I've never seen those before, and I'm a big scifi guy.

Thanks for posting those.... I'm watching tons of deleted scenes from the Star Wars series now, and loving it.

Those deleted scenes follow the book. Which was written by George Lucas, of course.
Oddly enough, I remember seeing those deleted scenes many years ago. I can't say exactly how. CJ |

CJ I saw them for the first time in the late 1990's on a CD-ROM called "Star Wars Behind The Magic," which was where they were first available to the public. The original cut of the Cantina scene is on it, too. (In B&W) The movie flows a lot better without those scenes the OP posted. |

I just finished listening to the NPR drama again. The first 3 episodes are great––including Luke racing his skyhopper, Leia's background and volunteering for and execution of Operation Skyhook and the droids getting assigned to the Princess. |

These scenes make Luke a lot more likeable. In the official version of the movie he's little more than a whiny bitch from West Bumfuck until Obi Wan and Han start schoolin' him.

CJ I remember this as well. It was about 88 or 89. The film made a run through here at that time in our midnight movie theater. We were all reformed Star Wars geeks. We noticed some extra scenes. Not all of the ones out now. |

I like the second clip from the OP. All the talk about getting drafted into the Empire's military forces, and what a shitty deal it was.
Doesn't belong in the movie, though. |

He's buddies with a cool dude, one step from going to combat flight school, but he's staying to help his uncle fight off raiding parties and monkey wrench busted equipment. He doesn't quite come off as well in the official version. Anyway, Hamill sells the 'frustrated yearning for adventure and regretful but necessary duty to the family' thing better here than in the official cut. |

I must have a bad memory. I don't see how those scenes would've fit in the movie at all. Who the fuck is biggs? He's the pilot of the last X-Wing to get blasted during the Death Star trench run. He and Biggs have a "reunion" in the hangar before the X-Wings take off. This was even in the original release. During the battle, Luke and Biggs share a little conversation only they'd know about with the reference to "it will be just like Beggar's Canyon back home." Although, if you hadn't read the Star Wars book or comic from around 1977, you really wouldn't have any idea. The deleted scenes suck as the dialogue is incredibly clumsy. Maybe it is because music is missing...maybe not. It's too bad because the scenes do serve a purpose, to show why Luke thinks about going to the Academy "yeah, that's what you said when Biggs and Tank left" (to Uncle Owen) and establishes their friendship before flying together against the Imperials at the end. |

If you guys want to watch something cool and original, there are some Empire movies made
that were put on youtube.... they follow some imperial troopers onboard a super star destroyer. Pretty cool, and suprisingly good graphics. Here is one of them... there are multiple episodes. One of the funnier scenes starts at the 13:00 min mark with a shootout... LOL... see who the "perps" are. Makin it HOT! -ZA |

I'd like to see a miniseries following the Imperial Marine Corps or something along those lines. So much more could be done with Star Wars.

Dude, that's Gold Leader. Red 5 was Luke. Red 2 was Wedge. You know..... When we were kids, and were out riding bikes, every street became the Death Star trench run. I made it a point to learn all their callsigns and I figured that I would do roll call before a big hill ( so we could "accelerate to attack speed" of course ). The problem was, I never made enough friends to fill the roster and I think it was because I was too busy learning all the Red/Gold Squadrons callsigns ...instead of making enough friends to take out the Death Star ( A.K.A. our friend's parent's house and RV ). I am now 29 years old and I still think that the X-Wing is the coolest ship design ever. EVER! |

Wow, I remember reading these scenes in the novel but I had no idea they were actually filmed.

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile What I'd like to see is a DVD with the original version without any changes except things like remastering and the like and then a version with all of the deleted/extra scenes put in except any really stupid crap Lucas may have had put in very recently and without the changes to things like having the guy who played Anakin in the latter two prequels as the ghost of Anakin in ROJ and similar changes made, including having Greedo shoot first, and all that. |

I read that the toy spaceship Luke is playing with early in the film is the filming model of the T-16 Sky Hopper. Later in the film Luke mentions the X-Wing's controls are similar to it, which explains why he's already qualified to fly a fighter plane. It was designed for a scene in which Luke is flying through Beggar's Canyon, killing womp rats, and wrecks it. In a way, I'm glad they kept that out because it would've been too convenient that he's already an expert at flying in trenches and dropping bombs.
