Well, okay, it might not be a total POS...but $4100?!!?!

And it looks like a damn video game controller.

Example:

The guy says he got the upper and lower BEARCOATED....but that it cost him $600?!?!

Is that what it costs to get one re-finished?
It seems a little steep to me.......

brouhaha,

don't be too quick on the "back up", being as the rear of the rifle is obscured i belive there is a rear "iron or open" sight out of view, simply because the laser light beam sight is at an angle, looking down the barrel it wud appear to be leaning to the right...... check it out !!

Uh...did you go to the link?  If you did, you would see a pic of the upper receiver showing the ACOG.  No back up sight to be seen.

Doesn't this ACOG have backup tritium sights (peep rear/blade front) on top?  Granted, they're too high for a good cheek weld and the sight radius is darned short.  And in any case, that's just way too much money.  Apparently living on Long Island completely warps one's idea of the buying power of a dollar.  [;)]

What'd the guy do, pay MSRP for everything then add finder's fees, shipping fees, etc. to everything????

If he's got more money into it than his reserve then he got screwed at every turn.

Of course, judging by his spelling, etc.  he's probably got a sign tattooed to his forehead reading "I'm a moron, please take advantage of me."

What does a nice M4gery go for these days?  $1,700 at least, maybe $2,000 including the extra upper.

So:

Rifle:  $2,000
RIS:       300
M900:      500
ACOG:      700
TOTAL:  $3,500

I don't know model of the ACOG, so I could be $200 high on that.  Still, it seems the minimum bid is $3,000 (correct me if I'm wrong, I've never purchased anything here).  If that's the case, it's starting at least $500 less than you could put this together for.  The price on the ACOG I used is apparantly $200 low, and I didn't include anything for the refinish.  I've seen matching refinished M4's go for $2,00-2,100 and no one questions it.

If you're in the market for a rifle setup like this and can get it for less than $3,500, you're probably doing okay.

Oh, and some of these lasers go for $500-thousands, though we don't know what this is.

So, stubbs, I'm not sure if your post accurately reflects the value of this rifle.  I'm sure that you don't accurately reflect the condition -- the rifle appears to be in LNIB or 99% condition.

Nice looking rifle and accessories.  Pretty much a SpecOps Afghanistan setup.  I'd say if the current bidder is able to get it for $3,025 they're getting one heck of a good deal!!

So, stubbs, what was the point of this thread again?

If I was putting that kinda cash into a rifle, I'd a free floated the RAS, and mounted the front sling mount to that instead....

Well let's see

$1500 for Colt AR-15 A2 gov't model (on the low side, I might add)

$300 Knights RAS

$275 for the surefire

$700 Colt M4 upper with bolt carrier (minus carry handle) if you can find one at that price.

$750 Trijicon Acog NSN

He says to add $500.00 if you want the laser...

This totals $3525.00 without the laser and personally (even though I'm not a Colt person) it would be hard to duplicate for somewhere close to the seemingly astronomical buy-it-now price.

The sad part is somebody will come along and use the buy-it-now option or jack the bids up past the reserve.

There is a guy that frequents these boards that recently sold a preban Bushmaster with an M4 upper and no extras for $2600.00 [rolleyes]

Where can you find a M900a at THAT price? The lowest I've seen is at least $100 more.

Does it hit the x-ring every time?  Even when fired one-handed, holding the rifle over your shoulder while looking in the other direction?
Aren't these low-rider with chrome wheels carbines sort of front-heavy?  The ultimate "tuner" AR-15, yeah!

I never have figured out what all the goofy doodads are good for except emptying your wallet at an alarming rate.  Then again, I'm more of a DCM kinda guy anyways and never understood the whole "tactical JBT wannabe fad."  I'll blast you from 500 yards with an iron sighted FAL while you're fiddling with your laser doodad's mount and I'm still out of range of your "carbine."  There are some absolutely bizarre examples out there with picantinny rails attached at every possible location. I call 'em "Weaver specials."

As for bearcoat, I think a rifle looks more natural with a few dings and scratches on it.  Mine are not museum pieces.  Eventually, you re-parkerize.

The point is that an AR15, which with out the inflated Pre/post ban bullshit should only cost 7-800 bucks, is going for $4100.  By your price, 2000 for just the rifle.  That's the point.

If the weapon is as described, and comes with the 20" upper as well, it may be worth what he is asking. $4100.00 will get the unit right now with no waiting on bidders, I'm thinking the $3500.00 he asks with laser on the reserve is reasonable. I wish I had the extra money on hand to buy it. Those are not "cheap" accesories, as I have some in my collection. I think the $600.00 he paid for the bearcoating is kinda nuts though. DPMS would have done an excellent job on the refinishing at a fraction of that cost. Just my opinion, flame me if you must...

We are in total agreement on this issue.

Still, if you want to accessorize a $750 rifle with everything included here the "package" would still run you $2,750.

I should've purchased an M900 when they were $350 or so.  And there isn't even a "ban" in place on them!  Simply consumer demand.

Take care.

I would'nt buy that, for half the price..

However, if the guy gets $4100 for it, good for him..

That gold plated 1911 is simply pimp..Too bad I don't have the hat, gold capped tooth or the Caddy to go with it..
