Just installed Mint 12 on my Dell D630 because 11 kept losing the wi-fi connection. I'm liking 12 a lot better, and it's a lot more stable, but whenever the screen times out, it won't come back to full brightness, stays too dim to read. I've tried every place I can find, but can't find a way to fix this. Suggestions please? Thanks, Michael |

Are you running the packages for your specific video board? If it's nVidia, download the management software.
I've never run Mint, but it's got to be something with the screensaver, power settings or the video modules. Also, be sure to check for any updates that are available. |

Click on Control Center, then click on Screensaver. Click on Power Management button at bottom of window.
Look under the AC Power and Battery tabs, and see if the "Dim display when idle" box is checked. If so, uncheck, and see if the problem continues to occur. If checked, for whatever reason, it's not refreshing when you come back out of idle state. Might be peculiar to your hardware, or might be an upstream issue. |
