Lightbulb just burnt out in the laundry room, it's a 100W 120V bulb.  Looked around all I could find was a 13W 120V CFL. Safe to use until I can get another 100W bulb?

Sure.  13W is the actual wattage.  What does it list as the equivalent?

If those are the 100W equivalent bulbs then I have those outside in my carriage lanterns on my garage.  They are plenty bright but they take a while to "warm up" -- especially in cold weather.

Of course it is, but that's a 60 watt equivalent bulb.  They make brighter ones in both CFL and LED.

Get a Cree19 watt LED bulb. It will last 20 years and is just as bright.

LED bulbs are better than CFL's in places you use the light frequently but for short periods.  CFL's burn out quickly in those situations.

Yep, try it.  If the light is fine for your eyes you can keep it there.  It'll be dimmer than what it replaced though and I fucking hate CFLs.

Laundry room?  Throw a 23W CFL in, and call it good.

Yep, we have LED bulbs in the laundry room, closets, rear porch lights, etc...

I got a mailer from the gubmint offering three free LED bulbs. Just fill out the postcard and send it in. I'm torn. On one hand, I want my FSA goodies, but on the other, I really just want to write FBHO with a Sharpie and drop it in the mailbox.

Buying a CFL bulb = Obama worship.

Get an LED bulb instead. I like Cree daylight but there are cheaper alternatives.
