I have been messing with the guitar for about a year. I have no fixed schedule to play, do it when I can. I'm an older guy with a full time night job working 12 hour shifts.

I have learned allot of stuff, most open chords, some scales and easy tunes ect.

I need a plan to tie it all together, suggestions?

Start with learning songs from bands that you like, that's a good way to musically tie all of those together.

1.  Keep a regular schedule
2.  get a GOOD teacher
3.  PRACTICE  a lot
4.  keep your expectations low

+1

just starting out can be kinda mundane untill you learn to play some things. make learning (or at least playing along to)your favorite songs part of your practice schedule.
